Wonderful job. Thanks. I have a question if anyone can answer on my 2009 E320 with Command. How do I get into the menu to tell the system that I have a rear view camera? Currently, the systems setting does not show a rear view camera. Also, I have a 30 pin IPOD connector in the glovebox--can I connect to it to get the video in? Thanks again.

I followed the instructions on the previous page: "Enter engineering mode by pressing and holding HANG UP, 1, and # at the same time for 5 seconds.
Then goto HW Setting > HU Parameter then scroll to page 3 and select Rearview Camera. Choose SRVC and exit engineering mode. Shut off the car and then restart it; put it in reverse and you should be good to go!"

Testudo, Thanks for the input. I tried that procedure yesterday and a few minutes ago several times and it does not get my 2009 E320 into engineering mode. The hang up switch is on my steering wheel and the 1 and # are on the Command System. Anyone have any other ideas?

Engineering Menu try - "Hang Up" + "#" + "1" and hold for 5 seconds. You should hear a beep if successful. Variation of the sequence given by Testudo .
Was looking for backup cameras for my w219 cls500 I see ones that snap in on the outside of the plastic cover for the license plate lights and the camera hand outside only covering half the light does anyone know if the light interferes with the camera or vice versa? the Camera blocking the license plate light.
If you are talking about the cameras show on the last page, then no. The camera does not interfere with the tag light. The light rests in the housing with the camera beneath it. Even in the dark when backing up, the picture is fine and your tag lights work.

I think it is the same general idea but designed to fit my car which is the w219 cls500. I'm really concerned it will block out my license plate light for some reasonas it takes up half the screen.
So I just recent bout an 09 c63 and I seen where there is a camera already installed. Whenever I go into reverse I have no picture. I also have this odd long cable coming from behind my rearview Mirror. I feel like this somehow related to the back up camera because I have no idea what the cables plug into. Any information is greatly appreciated!
The camera may need repairs or possible to be turned on in a Menu or activated in the engineering menu.
Those wires behind the rear view mirror are likely for a dash cam.
Alright so I'll try going into engineering menu first, if that doesn't work I'll pop the trunk liner off and see what's going on back there.
Also with those wires I'm guessing maybe it's hard wired? Would I just need to buy a dash cam and plug it up?

Do you have a multi-meter to test for power on the plug-in, the one on the right? The other one looks like some kind of data cable. The other option might be a radar detector of some sort. It may well be a direct plug in depending on the dash cam. Can you find the other end of the wires in or behind the glove box or the ashtray/center console. Possible radar and laser connectors or remote control/display.

Helminski78, check the back of the command unit and see if that cable is wired in there to display something and in place of the rear view camera connection. Might be why you are not getting a rear view signal.
So the other day I popped the trunk liner off and traced the back up cam wires all the way up to the front of the car and they were the cables in the picture I had posted before. So my guess was maybe he bought a display screen to use the camera and when he sold the car he just took the screen and left the cables there.

I checked and there is a right angle fakra cable plugged in but I'm not sure where it led.

That would make sense as the cables probably cost him like 5 dollars and wouldn't be worth the effort to remove. Seems like you got some free labor done on your end though if you plan on doing that upgrade.
I went with the wireless transmitter, every once in a while it'll be a picture of static or a scrolling picture of static. Also it doesn't come on sometimes. It's fine more often than not though. The camera I picked isn't great, it pretty much just shows the bumper and maybe a foot behind..
