Torque is a primary variable, a force x moment arm, it's instantaneous
Power is derived from torque, a secondary variable
A dyno measures torque and calcs power from it

F= ma or a = F/m
Torque is in the equation
Where is power?
Top speed relates to power because the car is not accelerating

Can't the leaf blower M sound be fixed with an exhaust kit? My E46 was well known for having a terribly raspy sound to it that for me at least was greatly improved with the Dinan exhaust system.

Although, I wonder what that would do to the audio being pumped into the cabin. Surely they wouldn't match.

 

I bet you can code out the exhaust sound in the cabin. I've yet to hear an aftermarket exhaust sound live, but reviews are positive. I guess anything over the stock sound will be better.

These are street cars where torque is critical
AMG's are better every day cars than m's in every possible way

I do like it. I think it really stands out. If I was in the market for an M4, I would buy an AY or SO only.

My RS4 was Imola
It had a nice 'tone' to it and was kind of mellow for yellow lol

If anything is personal preference it is surely color

 

On that we are agreed, the launch colours for the M3/M4 are terrible. There was a yellow M4 in the BMW dealership next to my work that stayed there for weeks and weeks. Surprised they sold it all.

 

The C63 is better because I own one.

I guess what ever you own at the moment is the best car in its class.
It's tough to admit that the M4 is the better car which it should be using newer technology.

 

There's a austin yellow in almost every BMW dealership and yes I've seen it in person it looks horrible metallic yellow just doesn't look good

 

ANY car with an exhaust that sounds so lame that the manufacturer decides to pump fake exhaust noise through the sound system is just absurd. I'm sure the car is powerful, drives great, etc., but this fact alone is totally idiotic. I can't believe they went that direction and no one slapped them during R&D and said, "No, really, you're not really considering that are you??" But it exists. Bogus.

 

They really need to be more creative in naming the colors. The yellow should be "Cat Vomit"

 

While I dont think it was something they had to do, I dont see why people see this as such a big deal. People who buy M cars and AMGs are enthusiasts who enjoy listening to a revving engine. So they thought it would be cool to put a Mic in the engine bay (not fake exhaust sounds) and 1%-2% of the sound is pumped into the speakers to enhance the sound in the cabin.
Really not a big deal.
I do not notice it at all.
I owned my C63 coupe for 3 years and have had my M4 for 3 weeks now. No doubt the C63 has a better exhaust note, but the M4 is far from terrible (sounds nothing like the video clips). An easy disconnect of the exhaust flaps so they always stay open and charcoal filter delete has done wonders to the exhaust sound. We have been spoiled with N/A V8's for the past few years, but its a different era and both AMG's and M's are going to loose that N/A V8 sound. We saw the shift in direction first in F1. I think we are just at a leveling off point in these vehicles performance wise. The E92 M3 and W204 C63's were much bigger jumps in performance levels then their previous generations compared to what the F82 and W205's will be. the focus for this generation is weight savings, better millage and better tech as well as a modest increase in overall performance. I get almost DOUBLE the gas millage in my M4 compared to my C63 Coupe; while still enjoying slightly improved performance levels...That is an amazing feat. Both brands are producing great vehicles and i'm surprised how immature some people are on both boards bashing each other. If M didnt produce amazing vehicles over the years, the merc fans would never have the C63 they have today. Just accept that both are great vehicles and the competition between the two brands upping their game each generation is why we have the vehicles we have today.
