I know this not the CLA Section, but this is very interesting and worth a share..
Volvo's new 2.0 liter 4 cylinder 3 turbocharger is producing 450 HP. In the video you can see and hear it accelerate out of the corners and it sounds way better than the CLA or GLA AMG's It's amazing... Now if pricing is more competitive Mercedes is going to lose the segment straight up to Volvo which is something I do not think anyone expected.... Right? BMW's cars in the Segment will also get smoked, but they are more competitively priced compared to the CLA or GLA AMG's, but again outright Horsepower of 450 hp is just insane out of a 4 cylinder that is basically 2008-2014 C63 Horsepower Range... Also there is a detailed article from autoweek at the bottom of this thread...
The Volkswagen Golf R400 was already going to beat the CLA45 ! This thing is just pushing the envelope even further.
I'm quite thrilled to see the tricks constructors pull to achieve insane numbers of performance and efficiency. Of course I'll miss the good old V8, but I like technical achievements nontheless.
I do not think VW gave the Green Light to take the Golf R400 of the Concept List to Production yet, but if and when they do rumor has it that it will not make it to North America...

I doubt it will be a bargain, the S60/V60 Polestar's start in the low 60's.
That is with "only" 350hp and a dated 6 speed auto. Hope I am wrong. I was enthused and followed the Polestar from the first rumor. Lost interest when the price was announce. That is C63 territory.
Car is nice but boy it sounds like a M3/M4: the lawn mower sound
As for the volvo that is an interesting technology. Let's see the real world performance out of it.
Quick, someone make a hexa-turbo 4L V8 and put it in a C63.
THINK OF THE POWAAAA
Personally I hate the CLA45, seen a few in person and they look so feminine compared to other Benz's. They look like a child's toy parked beside my C63.
Then I saw the 507 coupe, in black... and thankfully she fell in love with that more.... phew, anything less than 8 cylinders just sounds wrong in my garage.
lol it has 3 turbos..... except one is electric which means it's not really a turbo but actually an electric supercharger. No turbo lag.... im so tired of hearing that nonsense. The only car i've ever driven with almost no turbo lag is an rx7. Variable vane, compound, twinscroll they all still have lag and in no way come alive like big displacement v8. Technically the Lancer evo fq400 had the highest hp per displacement and still does in my book, but i guess since you cant get that in america it doesnt count? Well just looked it up there is a fq440 now lol. 440hp/412tq 3yr warranty straight from mitsubishi.
To be honest i laugh at volvo as being a serious performance brand. they'd have a long way to go before id think twice about purchasing one. Its not that the engineers are stupid and not capable, but the styling/design/concepts do not capture anyone that's 40 or younger. There is absolutely no appeal. When have you have said or heard anyone say "man id love to own that volvo"
Too bad they don't have even one half-decent car to put it into.
What about a smaller brother to this one - making 650hp from a 5 liter version of their 4L V8 tearing up tracks in the Supercar V8 series down under?
It's often the fastest car in the field - in its rookie year it has won twice and got about 5 pole positions. We won't talk about the Merc C63.... I just wish AMG were sponsoring the effort as that would make a big difference to the Merc team.

I disagree, I would take the Polestar S60 over the C63, or even E63 any day.
The Volvo interiors are far nicer and better equipped than all the MB's, except maybe the S class.

There are two different Polestar S60's, there is the S60 with Polestar trim (sort of like the AMG trim on non amg cars in the past), and then there is the Polestar S60 tuned and modified by Polestar themselves.
They only made a few (I think less than 10, and it is listed as a concept, but I believe one sold for close to $250kor more)
Performance
Even though Volvo refers to the High Performance Drive-E Powertrain as a concept for now, it'll find its way into the XC90 in one form or another, as the new SUV is scheduled to go on sale by April 2015. Volvo plans to use the 2.0-liter inline-four in a number of cars in different states of tune, though it's unclear at this point if the top version will actually pump out 450 hp in production form.
This quote sums it up. Concept engines and concept outputs. Lets see what actually gets put into production cars before we get too excited.
One of my employees girlfriends car will rape a tuned m4 running on race gas
It cost less than 20k to boot
Mid 9's at 130+
Engine dyno'ed ( not roller ) at 425 hp
