Hesitation when starting the car.....
So my cars got about 5000 miles on the clock, 2008.. So far no problems as I bought the car earlier this year with 400 miles on it
Just recently, this is the second time it's happened but I go to start my car up and as I turn the key in the ignition, the engine sort of delays a little before the car starts up, you can hear it too, theres like a 2 second delay/hesitation before the engine starts up, anybody have any idea what this could be?

Did you drive it hard the previous day and then put it away hot? This is often caused by condensation in the cats/cylinders. Makes initial crank a bit longer, but it will fire.

Is the engine actually turning over and not catching or does it do nothing and then fire up? My '13 sedan, after pushing the start button, hesitates for a second as if it is going through a diagnostic check, and then fires up instantly which is perfectly normal.

Since it is a 2008, is it possible that the battery is getting weak and is having trouble generating enough juice to spin the engine fast enough to generate the correct spark to ignite the fuel/air mixture? I've had cars with weak batteries turn over lazily and finally start. A new battery resolved the issue.

I would check the battery, then plugs as well as coils. My car would start up the. Idle really bad on occasions. Your situation happened twice and stopped after battery was changed. Hope it helps and good luck. Maybe put fuel additive cleaner just to make sure all is cleaned out to.
