c63 vs m6 hwy run
Ok, sorry I didnt have time to grab the phone to catch it on film but you'll just have to choose to believe or not, up to you.....
...Tuesday coming home from Atlanta on 85S I passed a mean, new white M6 and just blipped it to say hello...next thing I know his nose is next to mine, we're doing right at 65mph and I hear his horn honk, i hear it again a second time, then we both hammered it....I FULLY EXPECTED for him to pull me the entire run but we never moved more than 2" either way at 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120....at 130 I just started to pull HIM and when I backed out at just above 150 his passenger side headlight was in about the middle of my left thigh, so from 65mph to 150mph not only did I hang but ended up pulling about 5' on him!!!!! I checked up and he dove off at the next ramp and I followed....really a cool guy after all, he asked what the hell I had had done as he came to the M6 from a c63 and said he knew I couldnt pull him....I told him the usual stuff plus a trip to Buckhead Import Performance in Smyrna(only about 30mi north of where we were parked) and he said "I'll take care of that asap!"...I lmao but hey, it may get Tony and the shop some new business, the m6 owner might end up with a much faster car and I got one helluva story out of it!!!!

Congrats jp !!
Hell most of the people i find to run dont want to be fair.
They want to run up on me and never get side by side and kick it.
In fact this am a lowered e63 grey wagon up here came up behind me wot and never slowed down to make it a fair run. I guess in this peckers eyes he won but truth of the matter all he did was jump me and never stopped so i call bs on it.
To much traffic on 285 to actually know who would have pulled who.
He might have had a faster car who knows but he did not want to go side by side and see.
Personally i think he was scared to find out to !

I have no idea if I can pull a 458, ive never run one...I CAN tell you that I CANT pull on a Murci, been there, done that, got the ego shattering video to show what those 4 extra cylinders are really for....
And just for arguement sake I will say that that m6 in the video got a good jump on the start and even with that jump the 458 walked all over him....me and the m6 on 85 (looked identical to the one in the video btw) never moved one way or another from each other at all until 130mph at which point I pulled fwd slightly.....like I said, I know without the video it is what it is but its my story and I'm sticking to it
<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/JxuFykfAodQ?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/JxuFykfAodQ?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
Can someone fix video, I cant from my phone....grrr

I know when to pick my battles, I have a new found respect for that 458. The car is gorgeous, the things I would do for one!
As for the M6, its a quick car! I had a run in with one a few months ago. Just a casual pull on the highway heading back home. This was prior to my header install. However, the M6 was very quick as well. I highly doubt it was modded and it was on my tail the entire time.

You said "a M6 can pull from a 458", are you implying to the first 3 seconds of this race where the M6 was obviously just at better rpm/gear ratio for the speed in which they took off?
Because from what I can tell that 458 just spanked the hell out of that M6. That wasn't even close! lol

The race starts in 1st gear ... top in 1st is 39 mph, 2nd is 71 mph, 3rd is 108 mph (this is where the M6 pulls on the 458) 4th is 144 mph (they're about even) ... in 5th gear, the M6 has at 155 mph the top speed limiter kick in and is done and the 458 starts walking ... the 458 goes into 6th gear and is really gone ... this is where the race ends.
Looking at this doesn't back up the OP's claims ... but it's a nice story nevertheless

Watch the video again ... I own both a 63 and an F10 M5 and from personal experience, I know which one pulls harder. Don't know the exact gear ratios on the 458, but can tell you what the M5/M6 do in each gear.

OP was never making any claims, just detailing the events that happened last Tuesday.....
and as for the video, maybe it linked to a different one on my computer but i watched a 458 wax an M6's *** even after the M6 got the jump....I LOVE the M6, it is the best car BMW builds in my opinion, but no where have i seen an m6 pull on a 458 no matter circumstances, gear, DA

I def see where you are coming from, but something to me seems off in that video. I feel like the M6 got a jump, pulled out a bit, but then the race started heading backward for the M6, I think the 458 could have done better with a better start.

Everything you say is valid as I just checked it all out. Not that I didn't trust you, but before I declare a loss, I like to know all facts, especially if it means admitting fault.

It seems to me both cars hit it at the same time. Since this particular race not only starts in first gear but also is a roller, it plays into the M6's hands. If it would be a dig race, the 458 would be gone the entire race. On a roller, the M6 doesn't have traction problems and has a torque advantage which you can see as it pulls on the 458 up until the top of 3rd gear. Once in 4th, the M6's torque advantage is over and the naturally aspirated 458 is in it's element. At this point they're about even ... up until 155 mph, when the 458 clearly pulls big time.
If the race would start from a higher roll speed, like 65 mph, the M6 would hang only for a few seconds ... after that it would stare into those beautiful 458 tail pipes
