Back seat flooding
I noticed yesterday that there was water by the back seats on the floor. The mats were drenched and so was the floor. I figured someone must have spilled water and didnt tell me. I cleaned up all the water and the next morning, same thing. It rained overnight and I didn't leave anything open. This morning i took the car in to the stealership since I have extended warranty and they just called me back.
They said that water was coming in through the sunroof because the drains weren't cleaned out. He also said that this wouldn't be covered hnder warranty because I don't have any record of doing services there which is BS because i do all my services there except oil changes which I do myself. He also informed me that they might have to go through insurance. Has anyone else had this happen?

What other services sre there that don't involve an oil change?
Is there any damage or can it just be cleaned and dried out?
They would contact your insurer?
Why because of water damage?

Sounds like BS. "They might have to go through insurance" that is a tactic to make it seem like it's your fault or an accident of some sort. Auto insurance is yours and they have no right to contact your policy holder.
Tell them to prove it's your fault, and indicate that you prefer a lawyer to an insurance adjuster. Let them know that if insurance is involved you will push the adjuster and the insurer to recover costs from Mercedes who you feel is responsible.
This is a non-pano roof right? I can't imagine much water getting in from just the sunroof. I'd suspect some body drain is plugged around the rear-window/trunk/1/4 panel area. What is the fix? Clear the drains and de-humidify?

Also be carfeful about how you proceed with the dealer and insurance (hopefully you avoid involving them). You don't want your car with a record of water damage. Even if it's minor you will get penalized when you trade/sell. A few hundred in damage could depreciate your car thousands for no good reason.

If cleaning the drains is routine maintenance (as it usually is) it is the owners responsibilty
If the dealer did the routine service it sounds like they would assume liability
Do not let them attempt to make a claim against your insurance

Yea I wont let them go through insurance. I'm waiting on a call from them to let me know how to fix it. Also there is no damage at all, just wet.

Just spoke to the service advisor again. He was bull****ting about how a costumer left a sunroof open and damaged the wires under the floor panel and it ended up being a $15k repair. Hopefully nothing is damaged. Worst case scenario, clean everything up, keep away from the rain and go trade it in somewhere else.

What irks me about dealers is they think everyone is a moron and easy mark
I don't mind paying but at least be fair & honest
I gurantee if it was their car the sa or mechanic wouldn't estimate 15k in repairs and contact their insurer
What concerns me more is since they try to cheat all the time many morons bite!!!
Are we a nation of idiots? Lol

There are 4 drains. 2 front and 2 rear on the corners. Rubber hoses that slide into sunroof frame. At times the rubber tubes will deteriorate or pop off from frame. If clogged water collects and spills over the tray, which will cause headliner to be soaked in areas as well as front carpet area and center console. Will not just be rear area. If rear rubber hose drain came off frame then rear headliner and yes rear carpets will be wet. New drain rubber hoses secured with zip ties at both ends where attached solves concern. There are body plugs on the floor maybe one popped out as well but water would only come in if ground is wet whille driving. Sunroof cleaning is recommened every 3 years with service. If you don't service yes MB can decline repair (seen this happen) but talk with service manager and 75% of time they will take care of repair.

Servicing: open sunroof the 2 front corners you can see drain holes. Blow shop air into holes but don't use a lot of air you can pop drain tubes off frame. Spray some silicone spray into holes. Now rears cannot be accessed without taking headliner down or hanging it. You can pour water into tray carefully and you will notice water dripping from front and rear fender liners. If you see water dripping from inner fender linings you know your drains are clear. Lubricate your track rails as well. Clean with rubbing alcohol and grease tracs.

1st off Manhattan is the only MBUSA dealer in the us mercedes owned. That can be good and bad. They are going by the book with you bc of this. Maybe try another dealer. You took it right away and should have no corrosion or damages issues. As long as carpets are dried thoroughly there shouldn't be a problem. Carpets are hard to dry completely. Hopefully you won't get a odor from this.

Just looked at mine
Front 2 easily seen
As you said rears obscured
Wiped everything down with wd40 and lightly greased tracks with a lithium dry lube
I'll use a little air to do the fronts tomorrow and squirt some silicone in them
The rears I'll check with soap/water
Everything looked clean and free of debris

I have always cleaned the two front vents by the top of the hood. I use toothpicks to clean it out. I didnt even notice we had in the back. My car is parked outside since it is a daily driver but ive always cleaned the front drains. Maybe thats why only the back floor panel is wet. Also the last service i performed at the dealers was Service B at 31k miles. I'm up to 48k now. Oil changes I have always done myself. As far as mercedes of
manhattan goes, yes they're corporate and they suck. MBUSA works out from jersey I think and I've made complaints before but no help. Had some O2 sensor problems.

Just did mine
Flushed with hot water/simple green
Fronts: inserted a hose and flushed with a sqeeze bulb
Came out behind the front wheels
Rear: had to pour it into the tracks, repeated more than a few times
Came out behind the rear wheels
Also cleaned andlubed the tracks
Used a coat hanger with a small rag tie wrapped to get the section under the roof
Pop the rear of the roof to the vent position and get the hinged 'lifters'
Siliconed the gasket and waxed the roof opening
Initialized the roof mechanism

Just an update, picked the car up today. Seems there wasnt any damage anywhere. They dried out the floor panel and everything seems to be good.

Yea me too! Still decided on trading it in. Saw a '13 diamond white coupe with PP, red and blAck interior and had it been a sedan, I would have gotten it already. Something about the coupe i'm not too crazy about.

Diamond white is awesome! I would have gotten that color had it been available back in 2010. Have you tried to look for a 507 car?
