Am i crazy for wanting to trade in the C63 for a CLA 250 Sport Package Plus?

Ha! My wife had a V6 mustang and I kept trying to get her into an e9X M3 DCT. She likes american muscle so tried for a Boss 302. Instead we ended up with this fat chick called a Challenger. 4200 lbs of American lard. I hate that car...
OP, nice 335is! With some mods, it will be quick. My buddy has a 135i (N54) and I can beat him on his 12 psi setting but not 16 psi. And race gas and 18 psi...bye bye.

I just browsed around for 335is's thanks to this thread but nothing i like local. curious if its worth more to get an F30 or pay less and get an E92

My pleasure.
I'll let you know a few pros and cons associated with each choice.
F30 pros:
- M Sport cars look beautiful/aggressive and there are tons of excellent BMW M Performance parts available for the F30.
- If you spring for the ZF 8-speed "Sport Auto" transmission, you will be a very happy customer. It is one of the best non-DCT transmissions out there.
- The N55 is a strong/fun motor. Great for daily driving.
- M Performance exhaust sounds great (considering the car utilizes a turbo inline 6); overrun pop on upshifts is intoxicating.
F30 cons:
- Steering feel is mediocre.
- Suspension is nowhere as good as the C63's.
- Motor runs out of breath as you rev it out.
E90/E92 pros:
- If you can get one with the N54 motor, you will have a strong motor that is very receptive to tuning (and there are a lot of great tunes out there).
- Hydraulic steering.
- There are good deals to be had.
E90/E92 cons:
- The high-pressure fuel pump is a known problem point on these cars.
- The technology is outdated.
- The non-M Sport cars don't look very aggressive.
If you are really itching to get something new, I would suggest taking a look at the new C450. It's going to have more power than a 335i and it's going to have a world-class interior (W205 C-Class was named the Luxury Car of the Year).
Personally, I'd wait for the W205 C63. Or, if you are considering BMW, check out the F80/F82 M3/M4.
her's is atleast a 5.0 but that things a hog and has bad suspension and poor CS from ford, atleast with benz and bmw i know things would get fixed.

She will have a blast in an F30.
Honestly, the F30 328i M Sport would be a great car for her. The new turbo 4-cylinder is very powerful and the 328i F30s handle significantly better than the 335i F30s.
Plus, if you lease a new BMW, you will have free maintenance for 4 years/50,000 miles.
Wish MB did that.

Well the N55 engine is known for being torquy and giving almost the same feeling as a big NA V8 on the low end side of the power band. You'll just miss that peak power and exhaust note
But hey if it suits your daily driving demands so be it ... we'll just see you in a couple years popping up in a W205 C63

To OP, nice pickup. Out of the E9x, the 335is is the best all-rounder. Congrats.

You really don't like torque, do you?

Nothing wrong with the M3, I had three friends that had them. Cool quick cars. But for some reason, none of them kept it for very long. It seems people get bored of the M3 rather quickly. I don't know if it has anything to do with the lack of torque at low rpm making it rather dull to drive around town. Anyhow, this made me think of this.
Good luck with the M3, it certainly is a better car than the CLA250 or 335i.

I traded my Interlagos Blue Metallic 2009 E93 M3 in for a Diamond White 2013 C63 (P31) Sedan a couple months ago. That was a great decision. The C63 is superior in almost all arenas - looks (interior & exterior), power, features, comfort, ride, practicality (convertible vs. sedan, so...). IMO the only arena where the M3 is superior is handling.
I think you will enjoy the M3, but miss your C63 after a short while. GL.

I have an e92 335i (my second one) and a c63 (just got it). Very difficult cars to compare. 335i is a torque beast and handles way out of its league, the n54 with a tune and some PSS tires is great value and great on gas. I've only had two issues in almost two years of ownership (Around 50k miles); HPFP went out once and boost hose got disconnected from running too much boost on JB4
The c63 is a rocket, wants to kill me, i'm scared of it, and I don't think i've ever loved a car so much. It's a dinosaur, last among a dying breed and will go down in the books. So will the n54, but just not in the same league.
I love em both. I'll probably sell the 335i later this year and will always miss it, but if I had to choose between them it's a no brainer. AMG for life

I loved the C63, but having the pre-facelift just killed it for me. The automatic transmission just ruined the car because it was so sluggish and just slow... The car also felt dated and just old and over time i got bored quick. The moment i got into the M3 it was instant love. I love this car and can't wait to wake up in the morning because i get to drive it to work. While the C63 was fast as hell especially with the eurocharge tune + straight pipes. The feeling and handling of the M3 is superb! I think if i had gotten a 2012+ C63 (especially a coupe) from the get go i would of kept that car no matter what.

Congrats, that's a beautiful machine. Apples and oranges to the c, but another timeless naturally aspirated beast.

I gotta admit, that's a clean M3. I wouldn't turn that down at all. Congrats! We had to rib you a little bit haha.
