Made a HUGE discovery on glass cleaner today...
Good Old fashion WINDEX is far better than RainX glass cleaner that I have been dumping my money into.
Don't waste your money. Use some thick paper towels and some WINDEX and job done with no smears

Except on the inside if you have tint. Then you need something ammonia-free.

Rain-X has always been garbage. I've always used Stoner's Glass Cleaner.
If you have tinted windows, I wouldn't suggest using Windex, as the ammonia can eat away at the interior film.

^^ I agree with you guys in general but don't think tint even shows streaks that much so any ammonia free cleaner is fine. Even a damp cloth. I am mainly happy with the front windshield. I have dreamt of this day to remove all streaks and water marks completely....it drove me nuts no matter what I did...plain Windex finally did it...

Wipe once on one side of the microfiber towel, then flip to another clean side to wipe again or dry. Making several back and forth wiping motions will disperse the dirt and is probably the main cause for streaks. That, and using it in direct sun light.

Caveat - use an ammonia-free version of windex (i.e. green works). I worked in service at a dealership and according to some of my colleagues, ammonia can damage auto glass.

even better is white vinegar & warm water in a bowl.
2 cloths. one to wipe it on the glass, and a dry cloth to remove it.
cracked pepper optional
but true story, this works (not the pepper)

I agree that any of the rain x products are a ***** to get clean. I believe it's the water repelling ingredient that leaves the smeary residue behind.

1) rain-x will screw up the rain sensor for your wipers. Virtually guaranteed.
2) I used newspaper to wipe the windows instead of a towel. No idea why it works but it does.

100% agree, good old windex + news paper is the way to go. I use to buy all the hyped online brands. Got tired of paying a premium + waiting to obtain supplies. I just use what my local auto store has now. Couldn't be happier.

Another old myth that I proved true is to wash your car in the rain.
The drying rain leaves no watermarks, only tap does... no need to invest time in drying

Not sure if you are serious.
But if your water hard you can invest in a central water softener system. + your cars finish should be waxed / sealed to repel water and help bead it to avoid water stains.

Personally I find the best results for no cleaners or streaks is using just water and a Norwex cloths. They are great on all glass.
