Soon to be new owner

What's up guys, been lurking here for a while while looking for my first big boy car. Little bit about my car history, I owned an 09 G37x sedan bought it new right after graduating from high school and modified it to my liking throughout ownership. Dropped it a bit, vossen wheels, meisterschaft exhaust, cats, intakes, tune and other stuff. Car was a blast to own but earlier this year I had an opportunity to sell it to a friend and jumped on it. Anyway, I decided on the C63 as my next car. I found a 2012 that fits my budget with 18k on the odometer and it's certified. I'm about to pull the trigger on it, but I wanted to check with you guys for your opinion about the vehicle history report.

At just 6 miles, the ignition coils were replaced. At 2,198 miles they were replaced again. At 15k, Left airbag assembly replaced, Steering column repaired, Battery cable(s) replaced, Ignition lock cylinder replaced
Steering lock replaced. The car was then offered for sale at 18k which brings me to now.

Should I avoid this car like the plague, or are these issues normal for this type of car? I feel that there is a repetitive problem with the ignition and I'm concerned about the reliability of the car down the road. I'll still be covered under warranty for another two years from now if I purchase this car soon, but I'm sure you guys can appreciate my concerns.

Anyway, this forum is great, and I look forward to being a part of it in the near future! Here's a few pics of my old G

Sound like the car was in an accident or stolen/broken into. I personally would keep looking. Even if it is under warranty, it is better to find one without all those problems or future potential problems. Very clean looking G also .

I think it all comes down to price, barring serious, value-affecting issues (such as prior wreck, repaint, lemon buyback) which would be non-starters for me. All of us would buy that car in a heartbeat for $25K. I know that's a ridiculous example but it dispels the kneejerk "I would never buy that car" reaction. For the right price, it's probably a good value. You just have to determine whether the reduced price is fair FOR YOU in exchange for possible reliability issues down the road in light of its history.

If all those items you mentioned were done under warranty, it's unlikely any of it was attributable to an accident, theft or vandalism because MB would not have paid for it.

Good luck. You'll love the 63. You won't love the repeated trips to the gas station!

If it was warranty work it sounds unusual but I wouldn't be too worried I mean s happens it could happen with anything as long as long as it wasn't a break in or accident I'd buy the extended warranty and be on my way

There are so many w204 c63's hitting the used market I'm surprised everyone is chasing down cars with known issues. Plenty of very clean, well maintained, problem free cars out there right now.

I said this in the thread about that questionable BS, just because it is cheaper now does not mean it'll be cheaper in the long run.

That's what threw me, it's not the "normal" things you hear that need replacing.

Honestly it was a headache for someone so they traded it in. Even for a reduced price won't be worth it. Shop around there are plenty low mileage cars out there.

Good point, there's lots on the market now that weren't there a year ago when I was searching and I have noticed several that aren't selling fast either

Hoping the same thing happens with the 14 e63s so I can jump into that or an ml63

Nice G, that steering wheel is sick!

I'm with the rest of the guys here that there are clean examples, its just they may be out of OPs price range.

Personally, I think you're better off going a year older to a 10 or 11, saving some more dough, especially since you like to modify (plenty to do to this car) and get a clean example.

Two sets of ignition coils seems odd but I could live with that. It's the other items that I would not consider as items that could be normally replaced by 18 k mi.

If the mileage is given for when those other replacements were completed it may help ID what happened. If all were done at the same time or in very short order I'd say theft recovery.

Nice work on those silver radio dials. I almost made that upgrade! They really do make a difference in the center stack appearance!

Didn't want to make a new thread for something discussed so much here, but I'm the proud new owner of a eurocharged v5 tune! Haven't had a chance to really open her up yet but it feels a lot more responsive in drive modes other than C
