Tire recommendation

I currently have michelin pss 235 on front and 255 in the rear on oem 18 inch wheels. I haven't tracked the car or gone to a drag strip yet, I love going at it on the street and hope to go on a drag strip soon. If I want good tires for the street and for launches is it okay to change the rear to like a 285 Nitto NT555r drag radial on the same wheels for street use? I'm just looking for better traction and handling on the street and want to know what the best tires would be. I like the michelin pss and know they're really good for everyday use but I'm sure there are better tires. It is my daily driver too

I think you are better off with separate rims for your drag tires. The tread wear will be horrible, they'll suck in the rain, and I don't know as though a 285 will even fit on the OEM rims anyway.

The 285 Nittos fit the 18" stock rims on the coupe fine.

This times a billion. If you want to run a track / aggressive street setup I recommend picking up 2 more wheels for the rear and running a set of those nittos or r888's for special days. Otherwise you really risk wrecking even on damp roads.

Also -- You can practically steal a set of PSS's right now off tirerack. OEM sizes will get to you for something like $850-$900 shipped for all corners.

Nittos will work very well in the street hook better than pss. In terms of mileage it will be the same because you wont get as much tire spin at launches on the street.

In the rain you will nust have to be careful when cornering etc and you will be fine.

Why get separate rims though when they will fit on the factory 18inch ones?

Because nitto drag radials are horrible tires on a daily driver

Then what should I do as a daily driver, stick with my Michelin PSS and perhaps increase the width to 245 front/275 rear on 18'?

You could, a lot of people run 275's on the rear, myself included.

But if you are wanting to go to the track once a month,or more, buy two extra wheels and some good sticky tires. Put them on every time you go to the track

What kind of rims do you recommend for the nitro drag radials? Does the quality of rims matter too?

A light weight drag wheel would be best. If there is a 17 x 9 one available that will clear the rear brakes, it will save you money in regards to tire and wheel cost as compared to 18 inch wheels.
I would also look into buying a mickey thompson et street drag radial over the nitto
