Questions about the Valentine1 Radar

I just purchased the valentine v1 radar detector. I was wondering if it's okay to always leave it in the car and use it everyday? Do most people unplug it when they're not driving it and leave it inside the car or at home? Or do people use it on somedays? I've heard these work best on the high ways. Thanks in advance.

Typically people wouldn't leave expensive equipment on display in their cars. Not unless you're trying to attract thieves.

I use mine every day and never take it down. There are no chords showing and it's not obvious that it's in the car, though. No one seems to notice it's even in the car.

Questions about the Valentine1 Radar

I usually leave it mounted unless I'm parking/valet for extended periods of time, such as at an airport parking garage or hotel valet. It's mounted so high up that it's not very noticeable. But if you are worried, it is easily removed and either taken with you or stashed somewhere inside the car.

Do you guys get annoyed by the wire hanging? It slightly covers the middle part of my entertainment screen

I have a 25 foot cable that runs along the headliner to the fuse box in the trunk. And then another cable running along the door sill to the dash for the concealed display. It's all hard wired. Hardwiring just the unit takes maybe half an hour if you don't want a concealed display. Dremeling the dash it mount the display....that took about 3 hours.

i need to do this type setup for my escort, that dangling wire annoys the )_*+@*+@ out of me. But then i'd also have to add the remote box to mute and block out signals....i'm too lazy and un-handy to do it though

Can you recommend a wire kit for my escort. I bought one a while back but it was way too short. I also tried opening up the dome light fixture and couldn't find where to piggy back off of. I know there was a thread on here with pics but I dont know if i'm just stupid, but it wasn't enough detail to figure out.

I went to an audio shop and they quoted me like 200+ to hard wire it. I walked away as I feel this should be relatively easy, just been unsuccessful so far..

You can also run a cable to the glove box and plug it into the cig lighter outlet there if you don't want to tap into a fuse or the battery. That's what I did.

That is what I did. I also put the radar on the opposite side of the mirror as the one pictured above.
