MHP Headers… A month later...
As mentioned in previous header threads, I decided to install, rather than sell, the MHP LT headers/hi-flow cat set-up I purchased this past winter.
Wasn't sure what to expect, performance-wise, but the quality of the headers was fantastic. Great welds etc.
Had install done, flashed the EC V% header file, and initially I was fairly taken aback. Car was making an awful noise, made my tummy hurt lol. Eventually tracked the culprit down to the header slightly touching the trans tunnel brace. Built some shims, re-installed and everything is sunshine, rainbows, and lollipops!
Now to the good stuff :
The sound is unreal. LOVE it. Went from a hotrod "Chevy" sound, to a more hot rod "Euro" sound. If you've seen that old cheesy move The Wraith, it sounds like Charlie Sheen's interceptor. Kind of a howl to it now, as well as the badass bark. Not describing it overly well, but.. It's a killer setup.
Tune has never hiccupped, farted, nor popped. Been a solid performer. Downshifts are decent, but if you want to really hear it, keep a small amount of throttle on while you grab the paddle and gear down. Lets out one hell of a bark that scares women, small children, and some grown men, especially if you can manage it under an overpass or in a tunnel hahaha.
All together, SOOO happy I did the install. Went from wanting to trade the car off, to planning wheel/brake/driveshaft/blower mods and hanging onto it for years to come. Made me love the car all over again.
If you are on the fence about whether to add LT's or not, get the dust off the Visa, and buy your setup of choice !!

I'm glad that you never sold the headers. You would have been missing out on all this fun. It's hard to describe the sound as it's quite different from the loud raspy sound that some other headers produce.
It's a good thing you kept getting low balled for your headers!

hahahaa no kidding !! I would have hated to have ridden in a car with them afterwards, knowing I had put $1,000.00 towards someone else having all this fun !!
Only real drawback is with how they hang down a ways, and with our roads up here, lowering the car isn't really a smart idea now...

Well done bud!
The install looks great! Did you do it yourself or had a shop do it for you?

Had a shop do it, then a buddy and I tidied it up afterwards. Not lots needed, they did a great job, just a few niggling things that needed a slight bit of attention to my OCD hahaha

Hey, wait - what is wrong with the Chevy V8 Muscle sound?
Frankly, I think the Benz AMG V8's sound are the best sounding V8's from Europe, although the Jag V8's are sure catching my attention. But overall, I think the good 'ol U.S. of A owns the best sounding V8 engines in the entire world.
Any true car nut can't denied the nice V8 sounds from the past and present V8 Mustangs, or the recent Dodge V8's and Corvettes. Speaking of Corvettes, if you ever get a chance to visit one of the Tudor AMLS or WEC races, check out the C7R Corvettes or even the Aston Martin race cars - those V8's sound like the devil himself is coming out of the pipes.

My buddy's ZR1 sounds fairly wicked in it's own right, yup!!
Just prefer the way mine sounds "after" vs. "before" is all
I agree on the Jag. This car was headed to the closest Jag dealer for an F-Type coupe earlier this year.
Cooler heads prevailed (and my bank account loves me for it!! HAHAHA)

How do LT headers do when it comes to cruising on the highway at 75 mpg? Do they drone? I love the stock setup that just settles down while on the cruise, and on the fence about exhaust / headers for that reason.

75 MPG?? That ould be the icing on the cake +
No drone cruising at 130 km/h (82 mph). At least with the setup I'm running.. Maybe the hi-flow cats help some in that regard?
Only starts to get nasty when you get past half throttle-ish, or RPM swing past 2800 or so.. Really is a badass setup, can't say enough positive things to this point at least..
