BTW very nice idea, PurpleHeartAMG. Let's hope the newbies will start with the FAQ thread. Congrats, guys, good job.

We all have agita over the number of newbie posts, dumb questions, and issues that could have been easily answered with a search are way up.
Finding a good solution is a challenge. Requiring an intro and 5 posts on a Newbie page may help a little bit but of the examples above, one of the silliest (V5 – is it worth it?) was already on his 6th post when he asked that.
Is it possible to force a pop-up on anyone with under XX posts (10 or 20?) that asks if he has searched the topic before he posts, and then directs him to the search function? That might eliminate a bunch of the recurring and aggravating ones.
Is it possible to require a minimum number of posts before someone can offer something for sale? I’m not sure how to confidently determine what constitutes a ‘for sale’ post . . .

Can we all just point to the search? There are always a couple of us that start answering and next thing you know.....from now on, thats all I am gonna do. Keeping the pics on my desktop ready to rock.

W204 C63 Coupe, W166 ML350 BlueTEC, 928GT, C5 Z06 & IS300 race cars, EQE 4Matic+ on order
All great suggestions that should be implemented across the whole board. And, if you guys think the C63 section is bad, you should try the W166 (ML/GLE)... the noobs there with their questions are like a malaria outbreak. At least someone that buys a C63 may have read a Car & Driver or a Motor Trend article at some point in their lifetime...

Mods,
I'm sure it isn't just me... Been around here quite a while and I think it is time to do some cleaning up on this section. Arguably one of the most visited subforums on MBworld.
Suggestions:
-- We have 2 stickies that are exactly the same thing (drag times). The new one is up to date and includes the old times as well. Consider removing the old version.
-- What is the MBworld wiki thread all about? Hasn't had a post since 2013 and really gets nowhere. Unsticky and let it die off.
-- Potentially consolidate the aftermarket wheels, pictures, and video threads into a media thread. I would unsticky them and create a new sticky along the lines of C63 Media thread and just link the existing threads in the first post there.
-- Aftermarket weight / header threads. While they are technical threads, the weight one is referenced rarely and those of us who have been around for a while answer new exhaust question threads on a daily basis. I'd unsticky and let those go too.
-- Add a FAQ/Forum rules sticky. We need one of these desperately. Some other subforums have great FAQ stickies where they reference threads such as the aftermarket weight, headers, etc.
Bottom line, there is room for improvement. These are obviously just my suggestions and I'm sure other members have some constructive inputs to add as well.
***** PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THIS ABOUT VENDORS BUMPING THREADS. WE ALL HAVE HEARD THAT ISSUE PLAYED OUT TIME AND TIME AGAIN *****
I'm not expecting anything to change. Just dropping in my friendly suggestions. I'd even be willing to throw together a couple of threads that would consolidate things, draw up some guidelines, etc. Obviously it wont eliminate all the clutter, but will help. People try to search things and type in "c63 wheel offsets" and results in "how to change the oil in my g55." (Exaggeration, but you get the point)

I'm just going to use this thread to park all of the retardedness that's going on here lately. I'll make it my job to update it every day until someone pays attention to this bull****. Bueller?

I wouldn't hold my breath.......I think the general rule of thumb for these things is that they let them "grow organically", or some such crap. I have heard talk before of "letting water find its own level". In other words, we may drown in stupidity.

You know....Ive been thinking about this a lot. Too much, in fact, cos Ive been so damn sick.
There are two separate issues at play here, that blend into one.
Part of why this frustrates me is that I just want there to be more fresh content, that hasn't been hashed over a million times, and thats interesting to me. The lack of that is frustrating. That makes opening up retread threads even MORE frustrating.
Truth is, its not like the retreads are squeezing the new content out. These are two separate issues.
I need to come to accept that we are at this point in this cars lifespan where we aren't breaking much new ground. I need to stop thinking that we are going to see a return to the glory days of, say, 5 years ago, where new stuff showed up every day.
I also need to JUST IGNORE the stupidity. This isn't MY site, I'm not responsible for it being interesting, and I don't need to reply to every thread or be so 'emotionally invested' in wanting this to be a great site. I can lurk here all I want, but the stupid isn't going away, and I need to just ignore it and move on, accepting that not all threads are winners. Just ignoring those threads entirely is the only thing that will even remotely kill them off. For every 4 snarky answers there is a real one. It's only silence that can choke those dead.
Slowly but surely water will find its own level, and 'those guys' will either move on or gradually get educated to the point that they start to ask interesting questions. In the meantime, some of the newer guys can answer these questions, cos this is all pretty interesting to them, or they can ignore them too and the deafening silence will make the stupid people go away. And I would like to think I am mature enough that I can just 'let it go' in the meantime. All the wishing and hoping it's different won't make it so, and neither will getting pissed off. So why bother torqued out over it?
Either way, Im going to stop spending my mental energy on this. Its just not worth getting frustrated over. I have a wife, two kids, a dog and a job that deserve first crack at making me crazy.

I feel like maybe we need a new sticky like this benzworld R129 section- "Sticky: Welcome from the Moderators - NEW MEMBERS PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING." and "PLEASE READ THESE USEFUL ARCHIVED TOPICS BEFORE POSTING A NEW THREAD."
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/
I know we have an official FAQ sticky but maybe something like the above mentioned to outline it out can set some ground rules or something.

Another suggestion that would make complete sense to do (would also clean up this section):
Create a Classifieds sub-forum within the W204 C63 AMG section. It's a PITA to find out what people are selling and having to sift through other general related threads. It would be beneficial to do it for each chassis, but all I care about is the C63 w204

It is why I never bother to look through the parts for sale section as it is a PITA and it is why everyone posts their parts for sale in the normal discussion sections of the C63 section because NO ONE looks in the for sale area for the C63 parts.
