What happened to this project?
There's been an influx of newbies over the past couple of months, asking the same tired old questions over and over again. I can't be the only one annoyed by this.
Can we get working on a FAQ as a sticky here at least? Make this thread a working draft?
I'll even start...
FAQ
1. Black grille/emblems/DRL
2.

I'll add to this too.
2. Tunes, exhaust, wheels
I've been on this site since 2006 and have just over 100 posts. There are tons of information on this site and I rarely need to ask for the advice. I've seen some people that joined a few months ago and have almost 500 posts, lol

Sorry...... these issues should have been addressed. I will start working to get things cleaned up.
If you have a specific request post it here or shoot me a pm.
Thanks
I unstuck a couple of threads. I can sticky a FAQ but will need help from W204 owners.

Awesome, I know everyone appreciates it Rock ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
How does this look so far guys?
FAQ TOPICS (to be expanded on)
1. Black grille/emblems/DRL - options and manufacturers (OEM and aftermarket), wrapping vs dipping vs painting
2. Tunes - bench and OBDII options
3. Exhaust options - headers, cat-back, and cat/res deletes
4. Wheels - popular offsets and sizes
5. Differences between the models - C63, P30, P31, 507, BS

I had given up on this - but am thrilled to see we now have engagement by a moderator!
I suggest we start with high level groupings of topics like
1. Aesthetic tuning (under which we would find grille, emblems, DRLs, tires, wheels, spoilers)
2. Technical Mods (cooling, brakes, suspension, superchargers, exhaust mods, tunes)
3. Vendors (who is serving the C63 user group with what, where are they, experience with them) - for parts, bodywork, mechanical work.

So let's put something together in this thread and then I'll create a new FAQ sticky thread.
Please continue to post the FAQ topics you'd like to see and also list the threads that I can populate each topic with.

Hi Rock,
here are a few threads, that I would have loved to see as I was getting going on my mods.
Preparing for going to a track:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...track-day.html
Differential Cooling Upgrade:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...l-cooling.html
Brake Upgrades:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...their-car.html
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...brake-c63.html
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...rakes-c63.html
Studs Conversion[
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...sion-kits.html
Oil Cooling Upgrade
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ing-c63-5.html
Header Install (there is a great sticky already, here are detailed installation reviews)
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...group-buy.html
If I find more, I will add. One important consideration for user friendliness is compacting. Most of these threads have all the useful info in a small subset of posts (maybe 10%?). Is there a way to delete the others in between, so it is easier to find the useful info?
Thanks for doing this!

Okay, I just got started with the project. I unstuck several stickies to reduce clutter and incorporated them into our barely populated FAQ thread. This sticky will need a lot of work. I assume you want main categories (wheels, engine, suspension etc.) and then subcategories with links under them. Please keep the information and suggestions coming........ I'll get to it all.

Here's one on DIY headers install. Also has instructions for building an O2 simulator which allows for complete removal of the secondary O2 sensors with no CEL. If that's something you need to do (I needed the bungs for my wideband AFR gauge)

There also seem to be a lot of recurring questions with regards to air intake/filter options OEM, ROW, carbonio, renntech an all that.
My fav sticky is by member "Skylaw" who's the mod for the w220 secttion check it out of ideas or inspiration; https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...tart-here.html

The new section is a great start but unfortunately existing threads can come with a lot of baggage. Ideally we need volunteers to create some new specific text for various items.
We should tap Roswell for a consolidated wheel fitment thread. I am sure many of you like me know what width and offsets will will work and the corresponding tyre fitments however Roswell seems to have consolidated his position as the resident expert.
Perhaps something along the lines of what I have set out below for various frequently asked topics by members who appear incapable of using the search function?
Thanks to a recent post from zcct04 for the compatible rotor post at the end - (there are others when you include 1 piece but this is not intended as a final product).
This is simply a quick off the top of my head and is not posted as being a 100% accurate or complete so please be gentle with pointing out the errors my example no doubt contains. Proof reading and input by others of specific subject posts for the sticky will be essential.
Brakes - C63 - not Black Series
C63 brakes are shared amongst other MB models. See the end of the end of this post for some details.
Front rotors
Front rotors come in 3 basic styles which are all interchangeable. You do not have to replace the rotor with the exact same one your vehicle was fitted with at the factory.
Non performance pack 1 piece rotors. When worn outside factory specification they are a throw away item. They can be machined as long as they remain within the factory thickness specification.
P30 performance pack 2 piece rotors. Technically these are rebuildable as you can fit new rotors to the centre hat. They can be machined as long as they remain within the factory thickness specification.
P31 performance pack 1.5 piece rotors. These are not real 2 piece rotors as they are not rebuildable and a re a throwaway consumable item. They can be machined as long as they remain within the factory thickness specification.
Rear rotors
Rear rotors are a 1 piece rotor with an internal brake drum for the parking brake.
Calipers
You have standard silver or performance pack red.
The calipers are essentially the same save that they have different pistons heights. The lower piston height in the red performance pack calipers allows the fitting of a thicker pad.
The pads are technically not interchangeable because the red caliper takes a slightly thicker pad.
Replacement - what is available
Rotors
The factory 1 piece is an excellent rotor and genuine OEM can be found online at competitive prices.
The factory performance pack rotors whether 1.5 or 2 piece are ridiculously priced from the factory. . Unless you want to maintain 100% factory stock appearance you are better off using the 2 piece rotor than the 1.5 piece rotor. Searching online may find you a pair for as low as US$1,000.00 to $1,200.00.
In 1 piece there is a wide aftermarket selection all the way from cheap non drilled rotors to quality drilled rotors by Zimmerman or products based on the premium end Centric rotors.
The 1.5 piece rotor is restricted to genuine factory OEM.
For 2 piece rotors you have a selection running from factory OEM Brembo to high quality rotors from Racebrakes, Girodisc and others.
Pads
Genuine factory OEM pads are excellent and will be more than adequate for most people. As with most OEM items competitive prices can be found online.
You can buy cheap pads but you will suffer from loss of performance. Quality pads available include the popular Porterfield R4S, Endless (rave reviews but expensive), Hawk in a number of different compounds and pads from specialist brake suppliers such as Racebrakes.
Those seriously tracking their vehicles will not be satisfied with any of the "street performance" pads and will be best served by looking at track specific pads that will endure the high heat and loads of extended track time noting that those pads will likely not make a good daily pad.

GRP, understand what you are saying. However, the downside of you proposal is that a.) it would take a lot of work, and b.) folks would probably disagree and argue about a lot of points, whenever someone tries to create the ultimate single truth on a topic.
Maybe the 80 for the 20 would be to go over threads that have already been created and clean them out, i.e. remove all the posts between those that contain the info. That way we can also deal with different preferences etc. by listing multiple posts on the same subject each showing a different point of view.

Wobble64,
I hear what you say. Too many people confuse opinion with fact.
No argument that creating a specific fact thread afresh is a lot of work. I certainly agree with you that editing existing threads may work well if you have the right thread to start with.

Hey guys....... and girls?
Anyways, I have up a general outline for the FAQ. We'll likely need additional categories and we still need to populate them with the most informative threads. Tell me what links you believe should be added or removed. Go here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ml#post6663402
