C63 507 AMG DA Car #19
Qwk - I had the same thoughts on the unique "use" of this car.
Long term value being 20 yrs perhaps.
Particularly if it's got extra hardware to boot.... cooling pkg.
I'll snap a pic of the window sticker showing delivery to Laguna Seca and Cota.

That's why I included the newer Hertz GT's in my earlier post. The 2007's were fetching 50k over the purchase price of a standard GT when they were released from Hertz in 2008-2009 and they are not half the car a C63 507 is in my opinion

You guys are NUTS thinking that an AMG Driving Academy car would demand a premium. I want whatever you're smoking. Seriously.
Unless it has the 440 cooling package, there is nothing but negatives having one of these cars.

Really guys?
Hope this doesn't ruin future sales of academy cars because in the long run they will hold more value than 'normal 507' (reference Hertz Shelby GT's both old and newer models)
As long as the car is in overall good shape for the price and you can obtain documentation that it was used there, I think it is an awesome purchase

situation can all be subjective to how you look at things. 2 cars, both have good service history, one was beaten up really hard the other is a one owner daily driven car. i know a lot of people here would say these cars are built to be pushed to the metal but id still go for the latter.
one thing i dont understand is how it would command a higher price than a 507 down the road.

I see how it can be pretty cool to have an ADA car. But I'd be pretty pissed if I bought the car without that information presented to me prior to purchase.
Extended warranty to 100k miles and the BS cooling package, if it's not already installed, will make it an easier pill to swallow.

buffing out is not an option. You can't buff matte paint. Otherwise you make it not matte. The proper cleaning compound and a tooth brush could probably clean it up (yes a tooth brush - matte clear coat is much stronger and durable than normal clear coats), although is more like the rest of the car is dirty and the sticker kept that area clean from deep dirt embedding vs sticker residue left over.
Considering it still has warranty etc... i dont see what the big deal other than it flat out being denied as an ada car. Most of the time dealers truly don't know where the cars came from other than auction. It's more than obvious with this one. These cars are stout and the driving academy maintains them to a much better standard than a typical owner.

I still remember back in 2012 that most of new C63 coupes we drove at Laguna Seca end up in limp mode immediately after 2 laps. AMG factory is also using ADA to learn more about reliability of their cars under extreme conditions and it's a shame that they allow to sell these cars and deceive customer as in this case.

All in all, if I was OP, given the circumstances, I would demand a long term warranty along with a huge price reduction in the deal he got, or since they lied to him, a new W205 straight up trade.

Not many people walk into a dealership and say: "Hey. I'd like you to find me a car that was brand new when delivered, probably not broken in correctly, and then thrashed around a track at redline for thousands of miles by many hundreds of people of varying ability. But since it was an exclusive event, I'd like to pay you $20k more than it's worth."
Comeon
I can tell you my Driving Academy GTS at the Thermal Club last winter was tired already. And I made it way worse.

I think you just came up big time on your purchase. I would assume Mercedes Benz is going to go above and beyond when you bring this to their attention. One of their dealers sold you a car that has been beat to **** without your knowledge. You are in a win win situation.

when i brought this up on the PL there was a big split between never ever buy an academy car and those who said if the price was right since they do receive more maintenance than most people might give them the problem is they werent being sold at a discount.

Doubtful. More likely the dealer paid pennies on the dollar for that car because of its history and then lied to you and told you something that would separate you from as much of your money as you were willing to give them. I'd get a refund and buy something else if I were you.

I did one of the AMG Drive Days a few years ago (in Australia). The line we got then was that the cars spend a few days getting properly run in before the Drive Day takes place. A typical car will then do no more than a few thousand kms of track day time. Transmission, engine and diff oils get changed daily. The cars then get "retired" with a full going over with all consumables like rotors/pads and tyres changed. The cars are then "sold" into the dealer network as AUC with full warranty etc.
The selling dealer will likely describe them as "ex Head Office cars" or something similar, which strictly speaking is correct. The dealers probably have a fair idea they are ex track day cars but will list them as Demonstrator/low mileage used cars and price them to reflect buyer demand. The onus is then on the buyer to identify them as ex track day cars and use this in any negotiation on price. If you check out the MB website in Australia at the moment there are plenty of C63S "demonstrators" with about 3000km on clock - no doubt plenty of these are ex track day cars.
Having done one of these Drive Days my view is that these track cars are driven in the AMG spirit but are not ragged mercilessly. They were very strict with cool down laps etc and any car getting a bit hot and bothered was pulled off and checked out in the workshop.
It can often be a case of "better the devil you know" with used cars, and with these track day cars you know their history exactly. Compare that to a car that was bought new by a maniac, run in by doing 400 Race starts in preparation for drag strip and track days before getting bored with it and selling it as "1 careful owner, low mileage, never been raced to church etc". I know which car I would rather be buying!! The trick is to identify the track day car and use this in negotiating a discount on the price, or an extended warranty, or both.
