You can probably restore the steering wheel to like new.

Srsly.

His AMG must not have included the free sense of humor. Maybe he should check the glove box? Maybe it's wedged way back in there under the window sticker?

I imagine that MBUSA has taken a pretty firm stance on this issue. I imagine it probably ended at buyer beware. I, personally, wouldn't but an ex AMG DA car although maybe one of the GTS? I love that car. I bet that the car will do as well as 95% of other new MBs over time. And for me, if I'm switching cars out every couple of years, it becomes even less of an issue. Enjoy the car.

Hang on here a second... So your happy you bought a car that was previously beat to **** by hundreds of people?

What warranty and discount did you get? Did they give an extended warranty and disclose how the car was used? I know the O/P was not told.

I saw all of these posted for sale when i was looking for a 507 and it was obvious from many of the carfax's that they were ADA / MB owned vehicles.
I can say based on asking prices there was no discount on these, perhaps the buyer was able to hack them down by noticing the orgins but i doubt there was much knocked off

Yes, I am happy - very. Yes I have a CPO warranty on a 3300 mile car. No the ADA history was not disclosed. I didn't even know what the ADA was at that time. Purchase price was a little less than 2/3 of MSRP. I also had a 1.7% finance rate from my bank going in, and the dealer came up with 1.5%. Original dealer finance offer was for 2.99.

I sleep very well at night - no buyers remorse here. Had them throw in some all weather mats and a trunk liner too. Hope that satisfies your curiosity.

For the doubters and haters of these cars out there - if it falls apart in the next few years, I'll be sure to let you know

Thanks again zcct04 for the references, i appreciate it...
That is a big plus, congrats! Hope the car does work out for you and last's you a long and enjoyable time .

As you may have noticed elsewhere today, pbaylog has just discovered that his car also has the differential cooling system (in addition to LSD and the optional front-end enhanced cooling system). Quite the beast!

Thanks Guys...

Here's a photo in case you don't want to navigate to the other thread. I thought I saw it when i did an underside inspection prior to purchase, but took a peek last night anyway to confirm.

Pretty cool. I wonder if it's just the rectifier bolt on like some of us have done, or the full BS-spec rear diff with cooling? Can you get a better shot from directly underneath looking up at it?

I'm pretty sure it's the rectifier...But I'll defer to those more knowledgable

When i had it up on a lift prior to purchase, i asked the Tech to point out the jack points. He did that but also pointed out a couple other areas that could be used as well. I could swear he pointed to the Diff as one of those areas. However, if this is the bolt-on rectifier, I don't think that would be too wise.

Sorry for the difficult picture quality... not much room to maneuvre

Note AMG Logo - belive this to be the bolt on

Diff fluid has obviously been changed before

I don't think the car itself is the issue. It's the intentional obfuscation of its history--they didn't inadvertently get it through the auction, it was laundered.

I don't know what the first owner of mine did with the car. It may have been tracked from day one. Caveat emptor. But, I didn't buy mine as the first owner through MB.

If they advertised these cars as school cars with "x" upgrades and superlative care during their time at COTA, they would have no problem moving them(IMO).

It's intentionally not revealing their past that chafes me.

Well said. I don't care if its a LaFerrari, if the manufacturer / dealer network laundered the car's history, I'd be pissed also.

A tech told you it was ok to jack up an AMG with the cooling fins by the diff?!?!

Guess I'm not surprised.

I may not be recalling that correctly...

but i thought he was pointing to the finned diff as a possible jack point. Anyway, too much information creates a lot of scrutiny - i get it.

Thanks solekeeper, the car is an absolute joy to drive, in fact, I may get it out tomorrow for a spin.

Picture is from a couple of weeks ago..snow is gone, no salt dust on the roads, heading in to the 40's tomorrow

I am not curious as to what happened from the last OP post. Legal actions? Discounts? New car? If that happened to me I would have pushed for a new car or a huge discount, since that is blatantly falsifying a product. You can pretty much call that a scam and clearly illegal business work.

I do find it odd that the sales guys or the ADA guys didn't tell you the whole story about the cars. Maybe it's cause you are in the states. I have attended the ADA once and the APT twice now and as my own opinion I wouldn't buy those cars unless I got a sick deal. We specifically asked what happens to these cars and the guy said to the group that the cars go back in for a full service and then sold off to dealers that want them for a deal. Each and everyone gets sold off. Some get moved onto other ADA events if they are special cars.

But to people saying it's alright to buy an ADA/APT car then think again. Here is what we put them through on a bumpy parking lot with gravel.

Sorry for the audio quality. It was cold and very very windy. The idea here is to floor the car down the line and then hit the brakes and stop in the middle of the line. First one there to stop wins.
