how much peak amp is needed to jump start our cars?
i'm looking to purchase one of those portable jump starters... they talk about amps and peak amps in the descriptions... some of them even tell you what size engines they will work on... so to make it easier for me, i'd like to know what specifications i should be looking for to know that it would work with the c63 engine/battery...

Good question. I got one of these lithium ion jump starters for a Christmas present. Mine is made by Stanley and it claims to be able to start a V8 car or truck. I have not used it as yet but it is a nice looking unit for what that's worth.

There should be a CCA rating listed as well. IIRC our OEM AGM battery is 850CCA, when I replaced mine it was down to 486CCA. It would be good enough for one start at least.

but i guess what i'm looking for is what is the minimum needed to start the car with a jump starter... if something like 500 amps will be enough... then i figure i can ignore the notes about it only working for 4 cylinder/6 cylinder...
i don't know what specs of the jump starter make it compatible for a V8...

I'd say 500CCA is the min and not to be confused with Amps or Max Amps. Those ratings are useless.
Cold Cranking Amps are the numbers of amperes a battery at 0°F/-18C° can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts per cell (7.2 volts for a 12 volt battery).
If they only list CA it's the same as above but at 32°F/0°C

for example
this says 1000 peak battery amps / 500 amp instant starting power...
so something like this would work with our cars?
and then there are products like this one
where it says 1000 amps starting power... works on engines up to 6L... but our engine is 6.2- 6.3 whatever...

I was all set to buy that exact NOCO Genius Boost until I got the other one (Stanley) for Christmas. In a perfect world, I'll never have to use it but it's nice having around. Doesn't take up much space in the trunk.

I would consider the below since the M156 is a high compression engine

Saw this on ECS' site and was looking to pick it up if it would work for the C63. I know the compatibility chart says it will work for all Mercedes cars, but I've seen other similar jump starter kits that say will only work for up to 5L engines. The description also states "If starter draw on vehicle is less then 200 AMP this should start your vehicle." Can anyone confirm what the amp draw on the C63 6.2L motor is?

Sorry..had to edit my post because I forgot to add the URL to the ECS jump starter I was referring to...duh
That thing is huge though maybe because of the air compressor. I already have a portable air compressor so I was looking for something bit more compact like the one in the ECS link.

I bought the 1000 amp Stanley jump starter. It works great for jump starting our cars. I had forgotten to plug in the battery tender and the battery did not have enough charge to turn the motor. The stanley jump starter didn't struggle at all to jump the dead battery.
for example

this says 1000 peak battery amps / 500 amp instant starting power...

Looked at the ECS thing. I don't think 200A is nearly enough for our big engines.

Hah..yea my gut was telling me the same thing. Just wishful thinking on my part. I'm seeing quite a few other compact options on Amazon with much higher starting amp ratings so maybe I'll try those. Thanks for the input guys.

Any one knows :
1. of a JUMP Starter for E-320, W211 which can be charged by the Cigaret lighter while the car is being driven?
Your Answer : __________________________________________________ _______________________
2. Simple answer as to how many apmeres are needed to jump start the above car? would 700 Amp help if the battery has some voltage like 10V?
Your Answer: __________________________________________________ ________________________
Thank you. BN
