Who here is running 275s in the rears on stock 18 wheels?

Car needs tires and I'm debating to stick with the 255 factory rears or go a bit wider with the 275s. I personally like a car with a little more meat in the rears (although 255 to 275 isn't drastic, it's still a change).

I am curious who is running 275 on the rears on stock 18x9 wheels. Any issues? Sidewall problems? Rubbing etc.?

I plan to keep the 235s up front. So, 235/40/18, 275/35/18.

Currently, on the fence among four tires: MPSS, DWS Contis, Nitto Invos, or Goodyear F1s

Thanks in advance,

I'm also very curious about all of the above, additionally, the 255 swap up front and what if any challenges/issues that presents.

I run 265s on stock wheels. They look pretty meaty and grip pretty well. MPSS all day.

I just got my MPSS 245F 265R installed yesterday and couldn't be happier. I first wanted 275s as well but kept reading they look too beefy on the 18s.

I can say without a doubt I love the look and stance of my car now with the 245s and 265s on P30 suspension.

The MPSS remains the best choice for a summer street tire.
I run the same sizes (245/265), and I think it's a perfect fit.
255/275 can fit, but both would need a wider wheel vs stock.
Both comments assume that you are at stock ride height.

235/275 would not only give you a too-wide-for-the-wheel rear tire (with sidewall flex issues that are not good for driveability and handling), but it would also increase the grip in the rear without a similar increase in the front. Our cars understeer already, and this would just make the problem worse.

MPSS 245/40 front and 265/35 rear is my plan for the stock 18'' on my car once the hankooks it came equipped with are finished.

Would 245 up front Hankook/Sumitomo tires be rubbing? Im lowered on H&R coilovers and have 15mm spacers up front. Im currently running 235 up front no issues with rubbing.

New tires are due and these Sumitomos look interesting for the price. They are only 480$ on tirerack. I am apprehensive though because I have never heard of them.

Does anyone have pics of their stock ride height C63 with 275's on stock wheels they can post here for others to see? I know I've read in other threads that others have done it, but I don't think I've seen any pics of such a combo.

I had Sumitomos on a Civic Si. They were a good second-tier tire in the Hankook range, IMO.

Maybe a bit noisier than I'd like.

I have had (4)C63s. Both my first, an 08, and my 2nd, a 10, had the stock 18in wheels. I ran both of those cars with 275 MPSS 18. I had no issues with rubbing. Period. |caveat|In each of those, I had never managed to fill the car up, so I am not sure what a full load would be like. But I have had decent loads before, and again the MPSS 275(18), were great.

Also, I put H&R springs on the 08. Lowering the front a little over an inch and the rear was dropped almost 2in. Looked great!! I did not have rubbing issues on the 08 m156/W204 w/ 275|18 that was lowered either. I am really good about entering and exiting parking places, garages, work, gym, dog to the park, etc.. But again, have had no worries on 275/18 PSS rears. Not much more I can think of. Just good at bad potholes, sh**ty streets, enter/exit, and the like. Bout much there is my opinion of putting 275/18 on the stockers. Ill try to find a pic or 2, if you like, showing how they sat in the well.

Love em show much, that it became my goto tire! I am on 275/19 now, and continue to love em. GO for it!! Should have no issues with the tires/wheels/rubbing in the size that you are cooking for.

I run 275's on the rear of mine and they fit perfectly. Car drives fine loaded down or not.
They should have come from the OEM with 275's instead of the pathetic 255's. I will see if I can dig up some pics

Yep, the sidewalls sit like they should (no longer rolled inward) and the rear tire is no longer shorter in height than the front tire

Thank you all. I am now unsure whether to go 265 or 275. The pic above with 275 seems to fit just fine on the stock 18.

QWKSNKE-
Any driveability or drastic change in handling characteristics with this thicker tire? What tire are you running?

Can folks with 265 rears post pics? I'd appreciate that.

Thank you again folks ..

Nothing noticeable in handling and i do throw it through the turns. At the same time I installed the first 275's I removed all toe in out of the rear alignment.

275/35's MPSS is what I run. The rear sidewall height now matches the front tire sidewall

I think Armo meant what tire brand are you running for your 275 in the rears?
