507 wheels.......trade???
Soooooooooo,
Im about to hop into yet another C63, my 5th!!!! Anyway, as title says, its straight forward. The 507 I am getting into has the stainless wheels and I want black. I am buying from an older gentleman who didnt drive it all that much. It only has 6k mies on it. Seems like its pretty low milage and hardly worn. It was also a garage queen.
Anyone have black 507 wheels wanting to wear the silver? Will consider some curb rash depending...................

What happened to the black ones on your totalled 507? You shpuld have kept those wheels and just put on a set of 18s from any of the forum members selling them.
Hindset is 20/20 right?

No, I actually tried. My thinking was 20/20. Before I went to clean my car out, I loaded up my car with a set of 18 stockers, the OeM air intake, the OeM open diff, a stock pair of headers, and a gear boot sheath with knob and alcantara....off I went.
My goal was to try and keep some of the goodies off the 507 and brought enough parts to cover what I was wanting to take. When I got to the car, I immediately got the jack out and started off to pull what I had wanted. One of the guys came out in the yard where my car was and asked what I was doing. I told him that I wanted to get some of the stuff that was aftermarket on the car and that I brought other placement parts to replace them.
He went inside and just about a few seconds later the manger came out and asked me what I was doing. I explained to him as well, and he shut my little party down. He would not allow me to continue. I called my insurance company and they didnt have an answer. Literally. The agent did not know what to do. I explained that I was pulling some aftermarket pieces that were on the car and that I was going to replace all that I took. Confused, she said she would have to talk with her supervisor. Long story short, they would NOT let me get anything parts off of it. Makes me soooooo sad
The car, off of it went to auction with;
Carbonio airbox $1100
eurochgd V5 $600
eurochgd pulley $400
quaife LSD $900
Weistech air/oil separator $400(very first they grab did for it)
and the ones that Im really gonna be sad without; Kleemann LTH, ceramic coated $7000
And I mean the true LTs that Kleemann made. Not sure if they still make them, but Kleemann did such a good job on them. They were beautiful!! Not that many people ran them, either. Others seemed to always want to run the same products, I was looking to Kleemann(not sure if Corey is still there). My car sounded perfect and performed very well. If they are still out there when anyone is looking, take a long heard look at the 4into1 Kleemann LTH. The sound was wonderful.
anyway....................

Edit, nvm, same time post
Second edit - ^^ Are you kidding? I would drop that insurance and burn the place your car was at to the ground. Not that extreme, but I would've looked the people in the face who asked what you were doing to your car and told them to put themselves in your shoes. How would they feel? It's not like insurance (or anyone) is going to make ANY money off those parts on a wrecked car and all that is happening is you're losing a lot of money for no reason.
Wow. I'm angry for you

WOW...the lot and insurance company hosed you. The only reason why I mentioned taking off the wheels is because, most insurance companies don't make a big deal about totaled cars. They just want to make sure that the car has wheels and replacement parts that you take off.
I'm sorry to hear that they screwed you like that.

I would keep trying to get the stuff off the car. Hell sneak in and get the stuff off. Try and go when the manager/supervisor is not there and get the stuff. Where there is a will, there's a way.

W204 C63 Coupe, W166 ML350 BlueTEC, 928GT, C5 Z06 & IS300 race cars, EQE 4Matic+ on order
Y'all know... there is an easy solution to this predicament, although I am afraid it won't help the OP.
You tell your insurance company about the options and mods you have on your car. They will ask you for documentation, receipts and pictures... and increase your premiums somewhat, but in the case of a write-off you won't be stuck in a $30K hole. I just went through the process for my 2013 coupe - the vehicle value on the insurance form was $63K. I told them about the goodies that I have and that mine was not a "base model" C63, and after providing everything they asked for, the car is now insured for $93K. The annual premium increase was about $180 IIRC. It also has the added benefit of them not being able to say "oh - you had unapproved, aftermarket brakes that we didn't know about... so we are not going to pay out a dime" should the unthinkable happen. I've heard of cases where insurance companies have outright refused to pay out a claim if they find out you had undocumented mods that could have affected the performance of the car (and what mod doesn't) and have furthermore won in court after being sued.
Let your insurance company know ASAP about the options on the car and any modifications that you may have. It's well worth the small premium increase.

I just posted almost the exact same message on a Jeep forum where members were discussing not disclosing their mods to avoid having insurance premiums go up or be cancelled.
I pay more for my other cars to insure them, but prefer to have no hassles, and to be covered in the event I need to make a claim.

Sad to say but the junkyard guys were already having plans for your 507! I wouldn't be surprised to see your car re-appearing on the market in a couple months ...
But glad to know you pull the trigger on another one

^Hey!!
First off, thank you so much for the offer. It is greatly appreciated. I could probably get in it(obviously without the joke price) , however...............................I actually need the rear doors of the sedan. Bummer, huh?
