Anyone else waiting for their transmission build from Weistec?

Anyone know what is involved in making a torque converter 722.9 "bulletproof" for a turbo upgrade? Weistec sells an upgraded torque converter: http://weistec.com/722-9-torque-converter.html
I'm planning to ship my ML63 to Powerhaus to have them install their turbo upgrade, and while the car is there, I'm trying to determine how important it is to do anything to the transmission.
All the stuff that gets upgraded on an MCT in the bulletproof package seems to be friction material that wouldn't apply to a TC car, right?
What about just doing a torque converter and pan?

Gotcha, I guess that's ignorance on my part about how the transmission works. I sent Weistec an e-mail too.

The v2 trans pack has been great for me so far I would just get that and have a local transmission shop do the build it will save money there is no need to pay the shipping to Weistec when you can have a quick turnaround locally

Does anyone know why they stopped offering the VB/TCU upgrade as a stand-alone? I'm pretty happy with mine, shifts fast and hard, but I wonder if there's some sort of issue related to reliability or longevity/wear of components? Mine runs the car materially hotter too. Anyone have any views on this?

We have not exactly stopped upgrading the TCU/Valve bodies. We are still upgrading them as part of our bulletproof transmission upgrade.
The reason we have temporarily stopped offering the upgrade on its own is that many of them were arriving at our facility with damage from shipping and in most cases, the damage renders the part unusable.
Mercedes classifies the 722.9 TCU/Valve body as a TRP item (theft relevant part). Because of this, the process of replacing a damaged valve body requires special paperwork as well as copies of the registered owner’s driver license and vehicle registration. The new TCU/Valve body must then be installed in the vehicle and programmed which typically is only done at a Mercedes dealer. Once that is done, the TCU/Valve body would have to be removed and shipped to us again to receive the upgrade.
The entire process results in anywhere from one to three weeks of downtime for the vehicle and a very inconvenienced customer. Aside from the downtime, the cost of replacing a TCU/Valve body can easily be higher than $2500. Simply too many of our customers were having to go through this process which is why we are currently not offering the 722.9 TCU/Valve body upgrade on its own.

Thanks for your reply - I'm really happy with mine and glad I got in under the wire!
Quick question though. Is it normal for the VB/TCU upgrade to cause the car to run materially hotter on track? And if so, what's the reason?
Thanks

Are you referring to transmission oil temps? The 722.9 transmissions have always run hot on a track. If so our 722.9 trans pan was made to help with that by increasing capacity and having built in cooling fins http://weistec.com/722-9-transmission-pan.html
If not, please email tech@weistec.com and we can do our best to answer all your questions

I'll email you. I have your trans pan also. However my oil temps are running much higher after the upgrade - I assume the trans temp is higher and it's all getting soaked up systemwide.

I think the CLK BS cars had something like that stuffed just behind the diffuser. That's what the vents in that model diffuser were for versus others for cosmetic purposes. The C63 BS cars also have something back there, but I think it's for the active rear diff cooling equipment.
