Anyone ever hear of the plastic booster fitting leaking ? or know if it is serviceable ? I had the P0171 and P2187 lean codes. Local MB dealer hooked up the smoke machine and said the leak is in the fitting for the booster line itself, not the fitting on the hose side. There is no replacement or repair to their knowledge and the entire IM needs to be replaced (they say). Thoughts ??

Then I read somewhere that there’s a bulletin where Mercedes recommends adding their own gasket sealant to some points on the valve covers. That’s fine but my question is will I need that same sealant when doing the intake manifold gaskets? I’m heading some people are having trouble pulling the manifold off and finding sealant residue. M156

you don’t have to pull the valve covers off to do this job. And pulling the intake mani off would not show you where sealant would be. That being said, I’ve never heard of this. I’ve only heard of leaking from failed or improperly installed valve cover gaskets.

I just ordered a replacement pipe from Germany via my local dealer today as mine is leaking at the white plastic fitting that goes into the intake manifold, above the IAT sensor.
It might be a slightly different part number to the W204, as it starts with A212, but i'll take pics and post the part # when it arrives next week.
Ok, so new pipe arrived a couple of days ago....I've given it several drives over two days and LTFTs are ~+7-8% bank 1 and ~-1.5% on bank 2.... CEL hasn't come back and I hope it doesn't. No stumble or wobbly idle that you sometimes get with a vacuum leak...power delivery feels smooth and strong...vacuum with throttle closed at 12.9 degrees opening is around -19.5 ....fingers crossed, this might well have solved my issue. If the CEL comes back, I'll let you know it failed. However it has definitely helped. Previously, the CEL was coming back within an evening and running the car rich. It's running nice and stoichy at idle, rather than 13.2:1AFR. For what it's worth, the pipe had a nice firm click that you'd expect from fresh tight plastic when I connected it to the brake booster. It felt tight and taught when inserting it into the intake manifold port also.
New and old...yes, the new one looks a tad smaller....either that or less stretched from the heat of the engine bay after 97k miles

Ok I got the line out of the underside rear of the manifold.
Now i can’t get the bottom off the intake manifold like in post #43. It won’t budge. All 13 screws removed but nothing. Need to clean inside chamber as oil leaked inside as well. It’s dripping out.
Carefully pry. Remember to use some lubricant like vaseline when reassembling

Panda, I finally got it loose. Now... how does this black line come off since it’s attached from the inside; therefore can’t completely remove the bottom of the manifold. Thanks again!

That's a rubber grommet, fold the entire thing inside the chamber, those are the wires that got to the throttle bodies, just press the whole rubber in

Interested to know mileage on the E and if the center throttle plate has decay where the harness for the TB is routed.
