Have a look through the FAQ. It will answer a bunch of questions you haven't asked yet. Including this one

From what I've read, Mobil 1 5w40 is the preferred choice for the M156, so yes, that's the correct oil.

Do a bit of reading on tappets.

It's not only the tappets that can make noise, the cam adjusters can create a loud metallic sound on startup if they need to be replaced.

Sounds like a failed lifter(s).
When an engine sits, if a lifter loses prime, it will lose the oil in the lifter creating a tapping sound. Once oil pressure is built up the lifter fills and noise goes away.
This may or may not be the issue, but sure sounds like it to me.

I've seen costs all over the map, if you're a CPO, it's covered under warranty.
5W still pretty thin, and they prob rec running the 5W in summer over a 0W.

Sorry to bring bad news, but if I had to guess this sounds like the culprit.

Just because a hydraulic lifter looses oil pressure once and a while doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.

I assume you have more to go along with this statement? Not arguing your point, but what does it mean then?
Most of the time lifters hang up or the rubber seal goes bad and they lose prime.

I'm no expert, but bleed down rate can be affected by many things. Then when the car starts up, if it's "sticky/gummed up" it could take some time to pressurize.

Design flaw possibly?

Motul 6100 or 8100 and Liquimoly MoS2...you'll thank me later. with recommended service intervals as long as we have on our cars, there is no reason why not to go with the best oil combination possible.

Try switching oil to Motul above or Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 (I use this one)

Liqui moly Ceratec added with your current Mobil 1 5w40. Then use MoS2 afterwards.

No chatter, noise or nothing after the above.

That's exactly what I do, except with M1 0W-40. IMHO it's more important to get oil to the top of the engine early on cold starts, plus the additive package is better. Ceratec first, then MOS2 on subsequent changes.
