Did anyone here see real improvement in cornering with these bars? It's a fairly reasonable price mod if it makes a difference

That's the Ultra Racing bar. I'm skeptical of strut bars in general unless they have attachment points to the firewall. But at least this is solid, and therefore not completely worthless like the hinged type.

So I have one and am waiting to install. The plates are pretty thick, so the OE bolts aren't long enough. Trying to find a solution to that still.

I have them on our clk and it was night and day difference. But i know i have had 2 customers leave reviews saying they saw a big improvement. They were in the W209 and W207 sections. I'll see if i can find the post.

Here was a customers write up and review on a w209.
I know its coming from me, but there hasnt been 1 person that has installed one and said they couldnt tell a difference. Thats from all different models.

True but look at the second pic of the C63 driver's side underhood. For all intents and purposes it's as good as what's in the first pic. That U-shaped sheet metal that surrounds the rear of the C63's engine - plus that bracing piece as pictured - make it damn close functionally to ideal IMO. That's a bargain price on the strut brace for a quality piece.

I like this series of vids - this one about strut braces (though a hinged brace is seen here).

I agree, I dont want to say connecting to the firewall is useless, but thats not really the way the force is going during cornering.
Plus the other bar being multiple pieces leaves more room for the bar itself to flex.

FWIW I had ultra racing strut brace on my w221 and it was a good and noticeable improvement.

I bet it wouldn't be too hard or expensive to take to a powdercoater. I'm with you. White just doesn't go. I'd probably try and match it to my brake calipers or just make it black.

I use front and rear UltraRacing strut bars! It's good mod.
To me also did not like his white color and I painted them in the color of my car.

I am going to pick up a set of these. How do you like them? What bolts did you use for the front and rear connections?

I am quite certain you will feel a difference. I held one in my hand and they are very beefy. Seems like quality stuff, and not being hinged is the best way to go. Not going to the firewall is not a killer in my opinion for a street/weekend track toy, but for a dedicated track car, yes you would want a firewall connection.

I have all of the Ultra underbody braces as well, and they made an ENORMOUS difference.

Let me know what you figure out for the front strut tower bolts. I think mine aren't long enough because I have KMac camber plates in there. If you have OE suspension you're probably ok.

Oh yeah, the camber plates kick that thickness up a few notches. I'll bet the Mercedes race group will have the right ones. When I am in Monterey on the 18th I will see if anyone down there would know. Otherwise you would have to do a custom grade 8 type stainless bolt.
I don't think ARP makes those either. I'll check.
