Touch-up Paint for our cars

Hi guys,

Besides going to the dealership, is there a trusted website that sells OEM touch up paint?

I've tried using the search button but all I got was threads that had nothing to do with touch up paint. Something tells me that I'm not using the search field correctly.

I did come across this website, it seems legit, what do you guys think?

Looks legit. If the difference is $8 - $10 at the dealer but makes you feel better at night, get it from the dealer.

But they have no reason to be a "fake" black on the web site you have. Looks good...

This is who I've always ordered from:

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

They've matched some tough colors for me.

Used it on all my cars. This **** is amazing and I back it up 110%. I've cut/polished over this stuff and it stays on.

It depends on what color it is, how big an area it is, and where you're touching up. If you have a light color metallic then I'd go with the good stuff or the light may reflect different at different angles. That'll make it look like a dark spot or line.

I'll add..the good paint suppliers (BASF for instance) and the manufacturers match their metallics at 5 different angles (10,25,45,75, and 110). If the flakes on one area (touch up or repainted part) are laying differently than another area, it will have a different shade and appear darker or lighter. Doesn't matter if you're comparing bootlid to door, but will if you're comparing a door to a fender.

So if you have a light metallic definitely go with the same paint supplier because only they will be able to match.

Have you tried the razor/cc method? Put a dot of the paint into the chip, wait till it's tacky and use a razor or cc to cut the top off the blob. It makes an even surface and the chips much harder to see.

There is also a thing called a clear coat rasp that I used after I filled a crater. It's almost like a finger-held file that will file it flat. Have to be really careful with it and keep it perfectly flat and slid across the raised area. Then wet scuff and polish afterwards. Can probably find on Amazon for $10.

+1, stuff works pretty well. Even used the leftover black on some chips on my matte wheels.

I needed some paint in a spray and did not want to use the usual paints sold by Canadian Tire et al and came across a company locally called Rondex. Now they are a Canadian company which uses Dupont paints as a base and they colour matched my Opal Pearl metallic beautifully in a spray can.
Perhaps you can find a local company that can do this for you without the uncertainty of the internet.
A local body shop is who put my onto these guys so maybe you have one who can set you on a similar local supplier.
