So pardon me if this was already explained, but I've searched the archives here and didn't find anything via Google either...
Why are there two different sets of OEM 5-stars on the face-lifted W204 C63?
vs.
I've seen both on either P31 and non-P31 cars, and different colors... Is it a package or option? For sure I've seen them on 2012's and 2013's, so did they change to the open spoke mid 2013 or something?
There are two wheel designs for the same reason any company has more than one design. It's not part of a package. It's just a different wheel. The 507 wheels, however, are part of the 507 package and are forged.
Ok, so I'm assuming the 2nd one I posted is the 'standard' and the split-spoke is option? Just wondering if there is any particular benefit of one over the other, aside from aesthetics...

From what I understand and see in the brochures, the first one was the standard 18" wheel on the FL sedan cars 2012 and newer with an optional 19" wheel available. The second one is the pre-FL style available 2011 and older.

The split spokes where introduced for the 2012 MY C63. Either option was always available 2012 and on. Edition 1s and 507s had their own complete option packages.
I'm the original owner of a 2013 P30 came with Split Five spokes. I didn't option the car it was allocated to Beverly Hills Mercedes, when I bought it from MB South Atlanta.

Not the case. The solid 5-spoke was standard on all years. The split-spoke was an option on FL cars. I'd guess that maybe 10% of FL cars have them. It would appear (based just on looks) that the split-spoke is a little lighter but I have never seen comparison weights.
I'm not certain, but I don't believe that either of these is forged. Does anyone know for sure?

If you have split-spoke wheels and would be interested in a trade, we need to talk!
My 2012 came with the split spoke 18's. I also have HRE forged 19" wheels. The AMG's are substantially heavier than the HRE's. They are definitely a regular old cast wheel.
Shows 18" slit spokes standard and 19's as an option, no optional 18's.
My build sheet does show the wheels as option 795 AMG Double Spoke Wheels 18" with mixed tires, so not sure if they are what came or if someone chose an option - brochure seems to show them as standard, but others seem to have the solid spokes in the same years.
