First AMG Purchase - Good buy? Thoughts?

First AMG Purchase - Good buy? Thoughts?
Hi all - been a lerker on this page for a while. Found what I think is a great deal on an immaculate 09' C63.
Car is one owner, local, serviced at one MB dealership. Older guy traded it in on an AWD Subaru. 74000km. Car has the performance package and has had no accidents or any mods thus far.
Theyve offered me a 3 year 60,000km bumper to bumper warranty for $3100 on top of the $31,850 for the car (CAD).
Tures are good, brakes all good. Car went through full inspection. Service records don't show intake or headbolts being done or anything major so far. Warranty would cover the repairs if needed.
What are are your thoughts on price, anything I should be concerned about or questions I should ask?
thanks!

That seems like a pretty good deal if the car is clean. Not to mention getting another 3 years of full covered warranty from the dealer would be icing on the cake.

Clean as a whistle, no accidents no repairs. I'm trying to find downsides with a bumper to bumper warranty for 3 years.

Sounds like a good deal. If possible, I would get something in writing that expressly covers the headbolts and head gasket. If the dealer is just offering the warranty or it's some 3rd party warranty, I think I've heard of some companies not covering the C63 or AMGs or something along those lines. If the headbolts are covered, you are golden.

It's a Subaru Canada full coverage warranty. Bought from the Subaru dealership where it was traded in. Everything covered as if it was a manufacturers warranty from new I have been told.

Sounds good. But I would ask to read the actual warranty before I pulled the trigger. That's just me. I like to read stuff before i make a decision.

Look it over carefully because they already lied about it being the same as a new manufacturer warranty. If that were the case they would be replacing batteries, bulbs, rattles, squeaks, etc and I've never seen an extended warranty cover those.

OP. like what Chris mentioned. make sure the "warranty" covers the headbolts and gaskets. id also want it in black and white. if they do, and the car is what you really want with all the options and the color combo, then go for it.

Buy now before I swoop in there and buy it out from under you. 31850 CAD is only $23887 USD and 74k KM = 46k miles, great miles for an 09. The warranty would cover repairs if the head bolts fail so.. looks like a smoking deal to me... as a side note almost every car I seen on Autotrader.CA has the performance pkg... way more than the US.

I agree. Go through the fine print. In some occasions, they'll say if they find aftermarket part that "they" think its in the same level of quality, they'll use it instead of OEM parts. If you can override that to make them only use OEM parts from MB dealer, then I would say $3100 CAD is not bad for a warranty at all. The car would be about $24050 USD and that's a good price (if you can negotiate a little that would be good too).

So the only thing I would think based on buying the car at a Subaru dealer is that this is NOT a factory warranty i.e. a Mercedes extended warranty. While they might say it's as good as Mercedes, I would find out who the warranty is actually through and do a little research on it. IMHO the warranty would be the deal/no deal on this car since it's a PFL.

Yep some good advice here on the warranty to check what is not included. Apart from that this was a good deal for a 09. GL and welcome!

Wait, you are paying for the warranty? Just take the $3000 and get new headbolts and do a good PPI and make sure the car doesn't need any other work.

I wonder who the shop that can perform the repairs can be, for a warranty sold through Subaru.
If it's only Subaru, honestly I will not bring my AMG to my local Subaru dealer, not because they are bad mechanics, but like any dealer, they see mostly Subaru, probably never AMG.

I'm assuming that it's a 3rd party warranty so he will be able to bring the car to any shop to complete the repairs, unless of course you're correct and Subaru will be doing the work - which at that point I wouldn't want to happen on my car. Like Vladd said, not that they aren't good mechanics, they just aren't AMG or Mercedes mechanics...

Be sure to read the warranty very carefully. Sometimes there is a yearly monetary limit on claims which will go quickly with a Mercedes. Either way congrats on your new car. You'll love it!

Thanks everyone for the info. I've checked the warranty and all the info around it. As discussed they have confirmed in writing that all is covered in the event of any of the common issues or any other issue as it's the complete protection package. Being a Subaru warranty though they said they do not service them so any warranty work would be done at a repair shop of my choosing and there would be no issues. They direct pay the dealership/repair shop. I got them down $1200 off the original price and will pick up the car tomorrow. Pretty pumped to own this car as I've loved them for years.
Consensus on not taking the warranty though? You guys think it would be best to save the 3k and not take it? My wife figures better safe than sorry on that one.

The warranty is a must for MY2009. $3k/3 years is a great price for AMG. I was quoted $5500/year for my 2004 CL55 which end up being close to what I spent on repairs every year, lol. C class is less complex but still wouldn't own AMG w/o warranty.

Def. get the warranty. Its a huge peace of mind. One repair may end up costing you as much, maybe even more. Pay for it now, pretend the car cost you a little more, but know for 3 years you are completely covered.
