Are 2010's really going for under $20k now?
Ah, I see the salvage title now.

On a related note, I have been a surprised with "relatively" good gas mileage when mostly on highway driving. I've been driving 40 miles each way to work mostly on the highway and the computer says average gas mileage between 18 - 19 mpg and that's going most 70+ on the highway. I don't think it's possible to crack 20 mpg. I think most modern cars/SUVs are rated high 20's low 30's on the highway so it's not that much worse haha. Perfect everyday driver in my opinion. Makes the drive seem to go by faster.
I wish the gas tank was a little larger though so the total range was higher.

I agree, a bigger tank would be great.

OP, I see you're from FL... Out of curiosity, what do you use to search CraigsList nationally? Just one of those random engines from a Google search?

Not that it should really matter in THESE particular cars, but the only way to get an accurate figure is by simple math: miles-driven ÷ gallons-pumped

Sorry, but ECU generated averages are b.s. and notorious for being optimistic. I've tracked every tank / fill-up on my last 4 cars using GasTracker+ and the computer was always at least 2-4mpg 'nicer' than reality...

Actually randomly look at some of the larger us cities. I think that it may be one of the last ways outside of a random eBay auction to buy one very underpriced sometimes, but at same point comes with more risk. But with car fax, vmi, and a ppi it's a fairly safe bet usually.

My displayed average MPG was also optimistic by 2 MPG. Then is did a reset of the ECU adaptations with the STAR and it settled at .5 MPG optimistic.
I saw 20.5 MPG doing around 70 constant on the parkway for an hour, looked like it might have climbed a bit more if I was to have driven like this longer.
At this point I replaced the rear oxygen sensors, they may be related to the trims and they seem like they may be worth in my car .5 MPG. These are not expensive, got the pair for less than $100, OEM boxed.
I'm still getting just below 13 MPG in commute, but I saw the news with OPEC, the fuel price may be going up.
If it goes back into the $4's, it's worth having the car fuel system work 100% as designed. I will do the front sensors next.

C63 gets decent gas mileage for such a large engine. My CTS-V Wagon averages 12-14mpg and on weekends it averages 8-10mpg. Whereas my C63 averaged 16-19mpg and on weekends would get 11-13mpg...
But... the wagon weighs 600 lbs more and has one less gear.

Personal best today 6am empty highway, cruise control @75mpg and got 21mpg for 20 minutes of uninterrupted cruise control, just don't see 25 in my future ever!

Got that just after I got the car in September after a reset once I was on the highway for a 2.5 hr run. Never had the opportunity to see it again. I averaged 18.4 mpg and about 35.6 mph on mixed driving over the long haul of time. Doesn't change much. It is worse than my 2011 E350 wagon that averaged 22 mpg and the CLA45 AMG at 24.6 mpg but the fun quotient is well worth it.

But going to the point of the guy with the advert...I actually do think these motors aren't as bad as the 6.2l size would have you believe. I mean...it's a damnsight better than my E39 M5 on fuel, that is for sure. I never moan about how quickly the fuel goes down on my E63....but for some reason, I always do in the M5. That's a lot closer to 11-12 around down while the E is 15-16...only 4mpg, but another way to look at it is it's around 30% better.
On another note though, the possibility of me having clogged up cats and having the fuel leaned out accordingly is probably a factor also.

You know, not to hijack the OPs thread here, but I bet you could take a cat off in under 20min if you really wanted to check if they were clogged or not. I'm starting to think you may just like talking about your broken car.

^^^ Yeah that's probably true, but seeing as I'll have my headers fitted within the next month probably, I'll just wait and keep my fingers crossed. It's too cold to do a task like this and get under the car man.
But for the sake of this thread, I included my possible cat issue because the car seems to be a little bit better on fuel than the others etc, so i thought it was a relevant point to make (esp as the AFR's are nice and lean via Jerry's tune)
