Vented Hood Dimensions

First time posting in the AMG section.

I am in need of C63 with OEM vented hood information. I recently bought a 2013 C300 and would like to do a functional vented hood mod. I already have a set of replica vents, now I just need to cut a hole in my hood to make it functional.
What I need a favor for is the dimensions of where the 2 vents will go.
1. how far away from the outside edge of the hood
2. how far away from the front edge of the hood
3. how far apart are the 2 vents
Thanks in advance.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
A ~4 square inch opening in the hood at that location is not going to extract any heat. It may at best increase the total available area for air entering the engine bay to escape by 0.02% - which unfortunately happens BEFORE said tiny amount of air goes past the engine, which would actually result in a slightly hotter engine block. It's a gimmick, pure and simple. Furthermore, the only way those are actually going to work is if there is a low pressure area on the hood over the top portion of the vents, which is questionable. A properly designed, vented belly pan is goign to be much more effective. I remember the vented belly pan under the horizontally mounted oil cooler in the 44O package and the little rubber flap in front, whose only purpose is to create a low pressure area over the vents so the hot air would escape through those instead of simply sliding past the openings.
An easy test would be to scotch-tape a couple of pieces of paper over the vents on top of the hood, leaving a little bit of slack in the paper and then drive the car at highway speeds. If you see the paper bubbling up, there is some airflow. If it doesn't move, just flaps around or gets sucked down into the vent openings, they do nothing.

We talked about this a lot in this thread starting about here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ml#post6900720
Some good videos and math and stuff there.
Still wondering if I can get through my hood with my Dremmel...... might try that this weekend, my HID project has me frustrated with fine detail work for awhile....
I had this hood on my S2000 track car.

Didn't do much for IAT but dropped coolant and oil temps. Adding hinge spacers to raise the back of the hood by the windshield is what lowered IAT and overall engine bay temps.

I've inadvertently pulled off similar stunts, and - whaddyaknow - ended up with a car with a roll cage, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, race suit and a HANS device.
I've only been to the Glen once. many moons ago and I drove only one 20 minuite shakedown session in a "green" group in someomne else's car... so I've never even had a chance to learn the track. Am going back there this May though with a local ChumpCar team, which ought to be fun - apparently last year there were well over 100 cars on the grid! At the Canadian ChumpCar races we get ~30 cars on the grid... the Glen is pure carnage in comparison. Having never driven there (for all intents and purposes) before, it ought to be fun!
Cheers,
Doug

BTW - sorry for the mini hijack here OP - what do you think of that heat extraction thread? Got my 44O in now, but I still want to get more hot air out through the hood, maybe try to create some flow under there too. If you have any thoughts on how to best execute on that, your input would be valuable.

As for heat extraction... a belly pan / skid plate with some louvers would probably be the least expensive and easiest thing to try, followed by a hood, again with some louvers, and last but not certainly not least, the indented area on the front fenders (where the "6.3 AMG" decal sits) could be a perfect spot to open up as the bulging wheelarches in front would almost certainly produce a low pressure spot there and you wouldn't get too much rain and dirt on the motor... I just don't know whether that's in front of the firewall or behind. We can revive the heat extraction thread that I originally missed.
Sorry for the thread hijack everyone.. back to regular programming.

I've been going to his track days for 17 years.
Were you involved with CTCC at all? Recognize the name Nabeel Malik? Drove the #79 civic for a while then an RSX for a few seasons. I put some serious wrench time into that car...
A Doug into pcars from Mosport just sounds familiar. But I'm old and my memory is sketchy.
I have been involved in various track events for 15+ years myself, mostly with BMW CCA Trillium, PCA UCR and SOCCI in addtion to various open lapping events. As for a Nabeel in a #79 Civic, I seem to remember someone by that name but in CASC-OR Touring GT some 10+ years ago when Perry Ianuzzi (Mad Macs #223 Nissan) and P.J. Groenke (don't remember which car he had back then) were also in GT Touring. I ain't young either so my memory is sketchy too.
Are these very exact meassurements for the air vent conversion?
I need to know because this week I have my bonnet converted at a body shop.
Thank you

Ramon
