Transmission problem

I bought a 2013 C63 AMG with the P31 package a few months ago, CPO, and so far it's been great however I noticed that when I put the car in reverse it has a hard time finding the gear. It'll put it in reverse and the car will go backwards but when I put my foot down on the gas nothing happens until 2-3 seconds later it "finds the gear". This doesn't always happen except in the mornings when the engine is cold and sometimes it'll happen during the day even when the cars been running for a bit. Anyone else have this problem or should I take it to MB?

Thanks. Yeah I only thought it happens when the engine and fluid was cold but the engine was at about 210 degrees yesterday and it still happened.

Not sure how bad/long the hesitation is but a slight hesitation is fairly common on the MCT transmission when first starting the car and shifting into reverse and into drive at low speeds. My car also has a slight hesitation before it finds the gear when I first start up the car. I've sort of gotten used to it so I can't remember if it's happened to me after having driven for a a while but generally it's only when I first start the car up. I searched on this forum and there were quite a few people who had the same experience and I think a slight hesitation is normal. I also have a 2013 P31.

This sounds like what's happening to me. The hesitation lasts as long as 3 seconds though for me sometimes.

MY 14 doesnt have issues finding reverse, but going from reverse to drive there is a slight delay. Like you wouldnt want to back out into a busy road and think you can put it in drive and get out of the way quickly.

Yes I am experiencing the same slight hesitation in the same areas all of you are describing. It happens in normal driving when at a stop light, the car is warm an in use and when giving gas takes a slight second to grab and go.

It was established in regular w204 forum that the thing is common and theres nothing really to worry about. Just annoying.

I had a 2012 and it would take 2 seconds to go into reverse even after being fully warmed up. I always back into my parking space at home and it would take a solid two seconds to lock into R. Anything much longer than that and I would be all over the dealer. Sounds $$$$$$$$ in a bad way.

This is a very common problem, no doubt. Mine does it, too. I'm not sure if anyone has really related it to any other serious failures, though.

Ha everyone has similar problems. Mine does in cold when switching from R to D, takes like 2 sec. I could even hear the gear is being engaged. so loud.

I've also experienced the same sensation. First time was cold, reversing out of my driveway then trying to go into drive, taped the throttle to early and felt like I was clunking into drive... Maybe because I was in comfort. Now I just take my time waiting after going into reverse or drive.

Yup just have to wait a second when shifting from R to D, don't notice it that much unless I am in a hurry.

Same here, I find it is a little better if I come to a real solid stop backing up before I put it in gear, but cold I do get a little lag from R to D in my 2013.

Mine does this too. 2013 non p31. Sometimes it clunks when it "finds" the great. I have learned to avoid it by giving it those few seconds it needs and now when it happens its usually my fault when I am in a rush and quickly shift and gas it without it being in gear, then it clunks and goes into gear.

We have a new audi A6 that is CVT and it behaves similar and does weird things when cold. You have to be patient with that car as well.
