2008 C63 Build Concerns

Hey MB World!

I hope you are all doing well.

Last month I took my Mercedes Benz 2008 C63 to a local shop and got the below build with products:

Ported & Polished Cylinder Heads
Weistec Engineering Head Studs
Weistec Engineering SLS Valve Buckets
Weistec Engineering Oil / Air Separator System
Weistec Engineering Spark Plugs
MBH Motorsports Long Tube Headers
ECU Tune

Lately after short drives 50-100kms I have noticed that my car's coolant has to be topped off during the next startup.

Also at idle the car has a strange intermittent shuddering, a brief engine lag which rocks up the front steering column of the car. When the hood is opened up I can hear the same intermittent shuddering and the engine briefly rocks side to side.

I am curious to know if this has impacted any other owners .

Would anyone you know a possible solution to this?

please advise.

- Gord

Without hesitation take your car back to said shop and have them deal with the headache.

Did they warrant the work they did?

Isn't coolant a potential indicator of head bolt issues? Did you check the oil dipstick? When I was researching the car prior to purchase I thought I read on the forum that they could see some dis-coloration or something odd in the dipstick reading if there was coolant leaking.

Coolant does not typically disappear as it is a closed system, so you either have coolant under your car (undertray or on the ground) or it is inside you engine somewhere other than in the cooling system. I would suggest you may have a head gasket leak possibly causing your rough running and hesitation, but take it back and get it diagnosed.

Check the head bolts, if you got head studs the arp washer could be not sealed correctly . Ive seen that on a friends car.

+1

Step 8 in the below instructions is critical.

Did they pull the heads or do them one at a time?

Missed that line. Or do they have some new technology on the market?

Hey Kriston,

the car is currently back at my local shop for further testing...

waiting to see what their findings are... car runs smooth no signs of overheating, just the concern with the car at idle (shuddering of front end and interment lag) and again the occasional top off of coolant require after a few short drives...
