In all seriousness, I LOVE that you are fearless enough that you are just asking this now. It's like "oh, it's happening. One way or another it's happenjng, so let's get it and then we can figure it out".

Awesome. I realize a drive shaft isn't the hardest thing ever, but I like the spirit of that.

Yep, I've got the spirit for sure!!! I've done a few drive shafts in my day and I'm sure it won't be too difficult, just thought i'd inquire. Thanks for the quick response.

SOOOO... I got my driveshaft installed on Friday... (DSS shipped mine first because I organized the GB)... There is definitely an increase in throttle response. The car feels much more "connected" to the gas pedal. Bonus: no loss in comfortability/drivability (which was a concern of mine). Don't rip my head off, because I know that driveshafts don't ADD horsepower... but, the car definitely feels like its got some extra OOMPH! Really looking forward to everyone else getting theirs installed and hearing the feedback.

One thing I will caution everyone... don't be alarmed but the CF driveshaft actually is not THAT much lighter than the OEM driveshaft. But one piece > two pieces for throttle responsiveness - goodbye carrier bearing!

The obligatory pics:

So definitely, you did not have to touch the center mount chassis points?

This would be beneficial information!

Depending on when you paid, they are shipping out in that order as they are manufactured. I know a couple people have received theirs already - myself, Asher and BLKROKT for sure.

My feedback so far is in post #106 above. Honestly, it isn't my daily driver and I haven't driven it since I wrote that post because its been $h!t weather all week.

I'll say this in addition... Last year I got a WaveTrac LSD installed - before that I had an open diff. My initial thoughts on the driveshaft are that it enhances that open diff vs. LSD feeling where your throttle feels more responsive and your tires just grip & rip when you get on it. TBH though I am awful at explaining how different mods made my car drive differently - I can certainly feel a difference though (in a good way). I think Asher and BLKROKT will provide much more descriptive and helpful feedback than myself.

My current ACPT carbon shaft on my Subaru has them. My previous one also had them, not too bad though.

Just got back from a few runs on back roads, up to 80+ a few times. I can report no odd sounds or vibrations. I'll put a few more miles on it this weekend. Feels like it revs a bit quicker and more of an immediate throttle response. When it cools down here, I plan on some 1/4 mile runs with 16" Hoosiers and some track days. Thanks again to Kevin for setting this up.

So for anybody that's curious. Stock driveshaft with the flex joints and bolts weighs 27.35lbs. Driveshaft Shop with bolts weighs 26.4lbs. Just got done installing it.

In the case of my driveshafts, there were always big weight savings.

Check out below a quotation from the other forum, this is not my posting.

Installed my carbon fiber driveshaft today! Install was really easy and only required 14mm, and 12mm socket/wrenches. Had it done in about an hour and it was definitely worth it. The bounce i used to have when letting off the gas or getting on it quick is gone. Shifting/downshifting feels lighter and smoother when letting off the clutch, and according to the "butt dyno" it feels like i have picked up a little bit of power...nothing overwhelming, but noticeable. Old unit with the bolts and collar i removed is close to 30 lbs...the new unit is around 13 lbs. Did one pull to 80ish and their was a slight hint of vibration but nothing much. Really happy with the product that The Driveshaft Shop put out.

Well..... that's underwhelming. I'm guessing that's why the Weistec unit is twice as much after all. Sigh.

I just went back to look in the other thread, but the guy from Weistec never posted the weight of their shaft.
Also there's nothing on their site, but only some other postings that it saves 20 lb, not clear where those guys got the info.
