correct part numbers for porterfield r4-s
Ive read on this site the correct part number is ap1291 for the front and ap1373 for the rear. I placed and order for these part numbers on LPIracing and left a note in the msg starting "2014 c63"...they called me and said the correct part number for the rear is ap1450
I see the following info listed on porterfields site:
Product No. AP1373 - 08-14 C63 AMG
Product No. AP1450 - 14-16 C63 AMG Sedan and Coupe, 12-16 C63 AMG Black Series Coupe
can anyone confirm the correct pad?

My LPI invoice from April 2015 for this exact thing (I'm looking at it right now) says:
PORT AP 1291 (R4-S)
PORT AP 1373 (R4-S)
Is that helpful enough for you?

actually yea its helpful and a good reference.
but since we all know the the c63 uses the same calipers and pads throughout the years, Im still unsure why there is 2 different size pads that are available. I could understand the thickness of the pad being different by 1mm which wouldnt make a difference but the 2mm length and almost 12mm differences in hieght has me wondering.
Reading posts by RacingBrake even suggests the rear calipers are the same for the BS and regular c63 BUT porterfield suggests the 1450 read pad for the BS
some other things Ive seen. MB came out with a different pad sometime in 2014 that addressed sqeaking. Perhaphs thats a reason why theres a different size?
Even checking oem parts sites has different oem part #s for pads that can be used

Rear calipers for the BS are different. I had to upgrade mine to the BS to fit my RB BBK. Pads are the same across all models however. My Porterfields worked on the normal C63 calipers (P31 makes no difference), as they have for many other members here - I've never seen that other part # referenced before.
Stick with what has been shown to work IMO, although I'm sure they're both fine.

"14-16 C63 AMG Sedan and Coupe, 12-16 C63 AMG Black Series Coupe"
Doesnt even make any sense, as the former would cover two generations and the latter wasn't even produced in 14-16 model years.

the people at porterfield said the the overall surface area of the friction material hasnt changed but there were some modifications to the backing plate and some other sections of the pad. They said AP1450 is correct for the 2014 so thats what they are sending me and Ill just have to hope it fits. Even though its 30$ then the 1373

So, revisiting this topic here... I am going to be purchasing these pads ASAP for my car...
The 1373's are $35 cheaper than the 1450's (not that I am too concerned about $35). But is there a difference between the two? Does one perform or fit better than the other?
Note: I have a 2013 C63 sedan with P31
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Porterfield themselves told me the 1450's are the newer version. Not sure what exactly has been changed but both will work

I don't know if the model year makes a difference (seems highly improbable) but I just ordered new R4S pads from LPI for my 2012 coupe. I ordered the AP1450 for the rears since they were more expensive (figuring it's easier for them to reduce my invoice than to increase it) and left a note asking them to verify the P/N.
They changed the order from AP1450 to the AP1373 and reduced the invoice.

I installed the Porterfield R4S pads today. The AP1373 that LPI gave me for the rear looked like an exact match to the OEM ones that came off the car, to include all the counterweights and the backing plate. Pad size looked like an exact match and fit was perfect. Both OEM and Porterfield were chamfered. The only notable difference is that the Porterfield pads have a deep groove down the middle, probably for gas relief when they get hot.

How's the brake dust on the R4-S pads? I normally go with the Carbotech 1521 pads whenever I replace pads, but I may consider this as well.
