I know that you are supposed to follow the conditioner with the cleaner, but I prefer a bit of shine versus matt. Just my preference, and my leather had already been cleaned recently, and the Lexol just did not give me the effect I prefer. The Leatherique did.

suit yourself. that oily stuff will end up on your clothes. I hate slippery/shiny stuff. it looks cheap and armoralled to me. my steering wheel starts to get shiny when it's dirty so I equate shiny leather to dirty leather.

I've found using a bucket of regular water and a microfiber cleans up any remaining dirt the cleaner solution doesn't pick up. Also, it removes any left over sticky residue. The first time I tried this I was shocked of how much dirt was still left on the surface after using the cleaner solution. It also leaves the leather feeling very soft and clean.

Zaino is my favorite maintenance product, cleaner works very well, condition smells like nothing else - been using it on my 335i since I bought it in 2007 and leather 10 years later is still like the day I bought it! I like leatherique when you have something old and poorly maintained to rejuvenate and redye if needed!

I mean..... come on. You "like it shiny"? Even if THAT'S NOT HOW THE STUFF WORKS?
It works in a specific way to, you know, protect leather. Because that's what it's for. Not for "looking shiny". If you want a leather cleaner/conditioner to "look shiny", then maybe get one that is supposed to. Not this stuff, which you are essentially wasting.
As Chris said, all you're doing is making sure you get that **** all over your clothes. And if you're wiping the oily away so it's not sticky anymore, then it hasn't done it's job. I mean, there's so much fail here.

Secondly, I used the CONDITIONING product only because after it dried, I did not see any NEED to use the cleansing product. No dirt was brought to the surface, as I had cleaned and conditioned the interior a couple weeks ago with Lexol. The Lexol did not quite give me the effect that I (not you and Big Bad B) prefer. Since the Leatherique CONDITIONER does no harm if you don't remove its last surface traces via the CLEANSER product, and since there was no dirt to remove (as evidenced by the appearance after drying before buffing), why in The World would I use the Cleanser to remove some of the good conditioner AND reduce the glow that I like?? The conditioner, by definition, is GOOD for the leather. The cleanser is not. It's merely a way of removing any dirt that "surfaces" when restoring dirty or neglected leather. Mine was not dirty or neglected.
If I've violated a C63 car show judging standard, or a suggested product use process, I'm sorry, but I prefer some glow. YMMV.

Reread my post Jim. I don't care if you like it shiny or not. It's your car. All I said was why don't you use the product as intended or buy something intended to make your leather shiny. I've just been busting your chops because you like to post your opinion about everything.
Or maybe this is a little more to the point... do whatever you want and "violate product usages" all you want, just stop posting every little thing you do unless you want people to crap on your threads. I typically stay in the background of forums because after 16 years on them, talking about this same nonsense gets tiring. I was just hoping for better I guess.

the shine IS the dirt. the conditioner should be applied periodically until the leather stops absorbing it leaving that sticky/shiny surface. the conditioner lifts all the dirt out and it is suspended in the sticky mess. then the cleanser is used to lift all that away. I'm not telling you how to use it, but...your leather is probably still dirty. you would be surprised what muck comes out when you think it's clean. I turned a 2 gal bucket of water grey.

As for buying "the right product", who the hell knows which leather treatment products are going to look different how?? I tried Lexol. I didn't care for the end appearance. So, I tried Leatherique. I like the end appearance better.
Finally, to be blunt: What the hell is it to you anyway? Why do you care enough to devote this much time, effort, and insulting language to attack me for a choice i made and mentioned here on the forum? Is that what you DO for FUN? My God. You need help.

If you think this is me attacking you or using "insulting language," Jim, you've got problems. I merely offered you a mild critique of your decision with an unneeded jab. I happen to be working on a Sunday and decided to chime in to keep from going crazy working on a day I should be doing something I enjoy (I'm a managing partner at one of the large law firms in Honolulu). I've put in very little time and effort responding to your posts and not all of those responses were negative or insulting. I'm sorry.
