Broken ESP Control Unit

Hi there my ESP control unit has an internal fault , we tried flashing it with star machine to no avail i just want to find out if the ESP is not working do u lose power?

Mine is currently faulting with a generic 5001 DTC for the Control Unit. Once I get over 20kph blamo... Car still functions fine without ESP, ABS, PS etc...

True some punk told me with that fault i will lose i was like that sounds like nonsense..... the only thing i wont have is ABS & Traction Control

I am not sure you will lose ABS. Maybe but remember ABS came along before it was integrated into ESP. The W124s back in the day had ABS but no ESP.
If you can get a wet spot or creat one with a hose go and test it.

When there's a fault you lose Power Steering, ABS, and ESP. The whole thing is all integrated.

Yeah he was refering that i will engine power because of that fault and was like that is quite a bit of BS right there

Wow! I will never understand the logic MB places in their cars after 30 yr of ownership.

Just remembered. Steering angle sensor is tied to the ESP.
