My AMG did its duty today
And kept me safe. I was involved in a 4 car collision on I-20 in Atlanta today.
Merging on to the bypass and traffic was stopped. Minivan never checked up, hit the car behind me, pushed it into me, which made me hit the car in front of me.
I think I am still in shock. Loved this freaking car!

Been there, done that. Looked the same at both ends.
Guaranteed you are a write off.
You have my condolences, but glad everyone is safe.

Glad you are ok. Did you IED...I mean your airbag go off? I'm quite worried about accidents with this Takata airbag staring me in the face.

Wow man, glad you're ok. Anyone else get hurt? Looks like a big hit, and definitely totaled (engine is probably ok though, doesn't look pushed back that far). Sorry.

And THIS is the other reason I drive Mercedes. When/If you do get in an accident it's one of the best at protecting us
Glad you and the Family are ok, You can always get another car

My airbags didn't go off in my accident either, and as you can tell that was a very similar accident. I was concerned about that until a couple guys who know more on the subject than I do pointed out that they didn't need to - the crumple zones etc performed as intended and no one was hurt. I suspect similar here.

I have considered getting back into mustangs and buying a 2012 Boss (friend of mine recently bought one and it a real joy to beat on) but I like the docile cruise and sound levels that the C63 provide me for the last few years

F**cking mini vans man. As soon as I saw the title...my heart sank. That looks rough though, glad everyone is ok from a hit like that. You should rip one of the badges off and keep is for nostalgia.

Bummer for sure but a car can be replaced.
Good that you were safe. MB cars will save your *** where others won't.
In 2006 a kid came through not 1 but 2 red lights at high speed and wiped the front off my E320 W211 after just kissing the LF tire and everything across to the RF headlight was a mess. The air bags in the L doors and headliner by the driver went off which meant the rear window had to come out which meant a new wiring harness for its and a new headliner. Didn't look like there was any significant structural issues and my wife was OK so they "fixed" it. $28000 of OEM parts (headlight assemblies in 2006 were $2100 each, hood was $2500 etc.) which I never understoon why they would pay that much but I insisted on OEM right down to the labels, labour and rental car for nearly 8 weeks and it never drove the same again.
Never again. Anything similar to what you have here is going to be written off. No discussion.

I'm also in Atlanta and have heard of officers ticketing the car that was pushed into the third car for "following to closely" even though they didn't actually cause the accident. I was hoping that wasn't the case here, but thought I'd ask. Glad everyone is OK, traffic here is insane.
