Radar detector install using dashboard fuse box?
OK, I've been searching here and on the web for the past few days, but no luck.
I'd like to install my Escort radar detector into my USA-spec 2013 C63 Coupe using the interior fuse box located on the driver side of the dashboard. Some W204 owners say that they don't have one, but I do. It's totally empty except for on 10-Amp fuse located in slot #123. See the pics I took below.
Has anyone tried using this fuse box to wire an accessory?
Does anyone know what the single 10-amp fuse in slot #123 is for?
I'm assuming all of the other slots are live (I didn't have time to check with my voltmeter, but I will soon) and therefore I can use any slot with items shown below.

I used the fuse box in the trunk and used an add a circuit fuse tap like you have pictured.

I used the one on the drivers side for my dashcam - several of the slots have power, some all the time some switched with the key on mine, just check with a volt meter and then use an add a circuit fuse (i used the type in your pic with the red short wire), totally beats wiring to the back of the car!

How did you route around the A-pillar/airbag? Did you remove the cover first? Or just tuck it along the side so it doesn't impede with airbag deployment?

I've done that on past cars. I really don't like splicing into existing wires if I can help it. Sometimes the connection can get flaky from road vibrations and that can blow a fuse. Also, finicky car electronics.

I took off that driver's side cover and didn't see a fuse box in there. (12' C63 BS Coupe) Must be tucked way in there where I couldn't see it. Mine is wired to the cigarette lighter.

I just tucked my wire up along the seal on the doors side of the a pillar then across the top and across the headliner.

Side note question. Any ideas on good mounting locations for an escort radar detector? Right now I have it windsheild mounted right next to the rear view mirror wired into the rear view. Apparently they offer rear view or blend mounts for every brand but MB lol.

ahh ok nvm then in that , can someone confirm what wire in the overhead panel is switched 12v that will shut off when the cars electronics go to sleep ? Or is everyone running it to the trunk fuse panel . Iv seen people wire them uptop but I don't want to have to switch my radar off manually everytime!

With apologies for a little OT excursion here, I pretty much quit using my once-great Escort Passport 9500 because all the cruise-control radar in the new cars was setting it off constantly. Has anyone found a detector that doesn't do that?

Also, as an update to this thread, I finally hard-wired my radar detector up to the 12V cig lighter.
