2013 C63 Little End Failure
My 2013 40,000mile FSH C63 has been diagnosed with little end failure by MB Stafford. I have attempted to pursue a goodwill claim directly with AMG MB who have offered a 50% contribution towards the total bill of circa £35,000 for a service exchange engine! I'm obviously not happy! Effectively my vehicle is a writeoff! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated on how to pursue AMG MB for a more reasonable solution or are there any M156 engine specialists who could possibly assist me? Does any one out there have any similar experiences of this type of failure on a low mileage M156 engine or have any information as to whether there are any inherent faults in the M156 engine that could have cause such a premature failure? the invoice literally says "little end failure"?
hmmm i just learned something today. little end failure is really a term. small end bearing anyway.
So yes I will agree while all of this is awful mercedes has offered to pay 1/2 the cost of replacement for a vehicle that is out of warranty. they don't have to do anything. how long have you had the car? what was the service history before you bought it? if you just got it what did the place you bought it have to say?

wrist pin failure? how did they determine that?! wrist pin failure is one of the rarest things to happen.
honestly i have no idea how one would diagnose this as wrist pin failure would probably cause total engine failure.

i am no expert but have had 2 diagnosis both giving the same answer of "little end failure" engine runs perfectly at idle speed but when revved to 2000rpm or above then released off gas rattle/ piston slap can be heard!

That's bizarre. And on a 2013 too. Do you have a P31?
I would get a second opinion from a UK MB/AMG specialist indy shop, I think MSL has a good rep. Does the car drive, just with a little rattle?

P31 what is this? Car drives but I have been advised not to run the engine or drive!

I have owned the car for 2 years it has full service history services at 7,000 16,000 27,000 & 37,000 the vehicle was previously owned by Mercedes UK. Yes out of manufacturers warranty but would you really expect an engine replacement necessary at 40801 miles in at 6.2 V8 in a hand built flagship engine?

LA54RUS...... I've seen that plate before...probably from MB-club UK.
FWIW the techs at MSL have torn down many an M156 and one of them is ex-AMG apparently, so you should be in good hands with those guys.
