Plaid interior on 507?
What would you guys think about adding some plaid to the interior. I would do the seat inserts, door panel inserts, shift boot (but not knob) and just the centerline stripe at 12 o'clock on the steering wheel. I know it is not a good investment, but sometimes I am stupid....

Love both! I picture an M3 owner feeling pretty cool about having a carbon fiber roof, but then I pull up and make him feel tiny when he sees the landau roof!

More inspired by Porsches than the GTI, but my favorite part of the newer GTIs is the Clark plaid interior. But the comments are good and valid, mods have to be in sync with the brand, its history, etc.

The older AMG's had plaid. If done right, it probably will look good, but I wouldn't overdo it. Also, I'd hate to not have the alcantara.

It works on the GTI because the interior is cloth. It would look weird if you had leather, nice leather at that, with plaid inserts.

300SLs looked great with plaid, but I got to thinking about it again recently after looking at a 190E-2.3 16V car on bringatrailer.com.

I agree, but the alcantara seat and door inserts (despite their suede-like feel) are really just cloth...so no leather would actually be replaced. Having said that, I asked this group because I value the input, and it seems clear that cutting up the interior would be unnecessary and wasteful at best and pretty f'ing stupid and in poor taste at worst.

I know, but Alcantara is more like suede than cloth in terms of "luxury". Going to plaid cloth would cheapen the interior.
Having said that, if you want to jazz up your interior, I've seen some fantastic Alcantara based custom interiors.
