Power Steering Repair - Stealership?
So... Service A and a rear brake job I was prepared for... then "oh and you have a steering fluid leak which we estimate at $2900 and a $190 alignment after..."
I have no warnings, puddles, etc. I told them to skip the steering repair while I got a second opinion.
Where should I be looking to validate this? Should I have gotten a warning? Is there a scenario where the leak is so small I can top it off once a year?
Any advice welcome before I just burn this money... or burn fluid as something is leaking onto my exhaust somewhere.
I won't have the car back until tomorrow night when the brakes are done...
Thanks All.

Don't be concerned with what C63fora2w1 said. He's just a clown who has zero technical ability.

Did they say what the steering problem was?
If it required an alignment after, I'd have to assume it's a rack they are replacing. It's possible it leaks, but it's not common on this platform unless there's crash damage. Any seal can fail though.

Service guy was badly quoting tech... something like "the rack and pinion system has a leak" all those words were used with little other clarification

Seriously, what is wrong with you?
Just because you have some sort of obsession with making really poor choices about maintenance and repairs on your car, doesn't mean you have to keep encouraging others to.
You sound like an idiot with these know-nothing posts.

I would just keep an eye on it and run it unless they gave you more specifics you haven't shared that lead them to their conclusion,

So the reservoir is far below the min... will top it off tonight and see if it leaks over the next week.
