Came back from EU last week. All BMW and Mercedes were with M and AMG style exhaust tips and debadged.
They pass you and you hear the diesel rattle.
Some diesel Mercedes even had the front bumper with AMG side cooling slats.
Almost like the factory got into this game too and offered appearance packages on the diesel best sellers.
This debadging is a way to pretend that you have an AMG, without putting on bogus AMG badges, most of the time.
Turned me off .....
The ridiculous part was not that there were diesel S class, but that there were small Diesel engine S class. And THOSE were dolled up like AMG.

So you are saying that all had quad exhaust tips?
I'm not sure that you really know the European car market.
Europe has a wider variety of models and therefore more packages and options are available for different models. De-badging has nothing to do with pretending to drive an AMG. All Mercedes in Europe actually come standard w/o badges. And for AMG’s it’s an option to debadged.
An AMG or an M appearance package is quite normal even here in the US. Most US cars are already equipped with those visual enhancements.
If you really think that exhaust tips makes a base model look like an AMG or an M than you are one of those who need badges to be able to tell what model it is.

It's just a different culture and not a way of pretending to drive something better or more expensive. (yes there are exceptions and those are the ones who put AMG badges on their cars.)

Just as an example. in the US advertising badging, labeling or even giving something a cool name is quiet big here. Not so much in Europe.

To clarify, we're not talking about adding a Black Series badge, merely changing the "6.3 AMG" badge to just say "6.3" like it does on the Black Series. IMO, the "6.3 AMG" badge is hard to read and looks a bit cluttered. The "6.3" is much cleaner.

Yeh, not so much..

Don't get me wrong, I understand perfectly the kid that worked 3 years and made that Golf into a fire breather, but chooses to keep it a sleeper and takes the badge off. That car is so much above what the badge describes that removing is legit.

Making a C63 into a sleeper by removing the badges? I understand this perfectly.

Causing uncertainty about the oil burner that you have under the hood and paying the factory for adding all kinds of AMG related elements? Nah, I don't understand this culture and it felt like it was most numerous.
In this environment, the real, but debadged AMG gets drowned in a plume of diesel smoke ...

This is what I like about it, the stock logo is not readable, the 6.3 is nice and clean and it was used on non black series models also like the SLS, nice and clean looking.

I ended up buying a set form http://chromecarletters.com/mercedes...lettering.html and the C63 letters are pretty size wise and decent quality but look nothing like the original letters or the pictures on the website as they are not flat faced, they all come to a peak. Asked for the new style AMG emblem with the newer style A in it, it is junk, 20% smaller than original, letters are too fat. Also got the 6.3 for the sides from him, they also are the same size as the C63 on the back so should look ok, the OEM 6.3 is larger than the letters on the back, but there is no where that makes the right size for those that I ever found. So would not recommend buying anything there.

Going to try a gloss black AMG logo from ebay that looks more correct, got a gloss black trunk star from ebay and it looks good!

^ Very strange. I ordered from the same site and the letters I received are all pretty close. Same size just a slightly different taper around the edges. The “.” in 6.3 is larger than OEM, but no one would notice the difference unless doing a side by side comparison.

I agree probably no one would notice especially on the sides, the difference between the C63 on the back and the AMG logo was too different and noticeable, so returning them - finding stuff on ebay that is more accurately produced - will probably keep the dots though!

It is hard to tell from your picture, but do your numbers have a flat face to them - that is what their website shows like OEM, but the ones I received basically come to a peak in the center of the numbers and letters instead.

Yes, they’re flat. Have a look at my earlier post comparing the numbers to the rear “C63”. They’re not exact, but pretty close.

Ya mine look a lot different than yours and from their website, maybe the gloss black is just different, but not what I expected and not good enough.

Wow I have owned two regular c63s and two black series and never notice the difference in side badges. I guess my eyes are drawn to massive flares on the black series body.
