2009 C63 AMG P30 Differential Cooling Fins
I went for a big service today: oil change, transmission service and flush, radiator flush and rear diff fluid change.
Before I went I purchased the AMG cooling fins for the diff (part #1713510108). I was surprise when my tech told me that the fins don't fit and have nowhere to mount, plus won't cover the exhaust (my car is mechanically stock).
In my VIN build sheet and options, it specifically says both P30 "AMG Performance Package" and also option 471 "Mechanical Locking Differential".
Shouldn't the cooling fins fit my car? I ordered the part from a MB dealer with my VIN, but maybe it only fits the facelifted W204s?

did you just get the fins or the new cover too? If you didn't get the new diff cover, there is nowhere to bolt the fins to.

I believe the Euro cars have the diff fin if you got the perf pack. You have to buy the diff cover which has the bolt holes for the fin. This has something to do with ground clearance for NA.

Check out the first post in this thread..it has the exploded diagram. My car came with this installed, so i don;t have any first hand install info for you, but hopefully this will help.

It's a packaging challenge, right? Not like there are a lot of options to hang fins off the diff itself. If it was an active cooler with a pump then they could put it anywhere. Otherwise they're constrained by the diff (can't move that) and the path of the exhaust which is also limited by the space under the car, axle and suspension movement etc.

At speed, the radiant heat from the exhaust pipes makes just about zero difference there. They’re not that close.
