Drag racing with FL C63

The guys that drag on a prepped track with their FL C63's.
Do you launch using the launch control function, or do you turn the traction control completely off and modulate the throttle yourself?

No launch control it sucks. Heat tires well. Traction on Sport. Brake boost - floor the gas while standing on the brake - as soon as it hits 3k rpm release brake. That’s been good for 1.7x 60’ times on street tires for me and is good enough. My experience with TC off on street tires wheel hops like crazy and stresses the drivetrain more than I’d like - I’ve already broken one axle, no thanks again. Slicks same as above but TC off.

Thanks for the info Blkrokt.
I've only run on a unprepared track, and there was no traction. I tried launch control, and it was useless. Then I tried Sport mode, but I found the lack of traction made the car cut power as it always wanted to spin. I found TC off to be best on a unprepared surface.
I'm using Yokohama Advan AD08 semi slicks. Running for the first time on a prepped track.
Will try sport mode, and launching at 3k.

Do you shift in manual, or run in Sport + and let the car shift.

All manual. Hit the paddle about 500rpm before redline as there’s a lag. Sport+ tends to short-shift.

You broke an axle on street tires?

The rpm lag on the shifting is a pain in the ***. You've always got to remember to shift before the redline.

That's pretty hectic. The back end feels quite solid on these cars. Didn't think you would break anything on street tyres.

With Hoosiers my best 60' / et was in dyno mode & sport plus. I did some runs and tried both manual and sport +, with + giving the best et's. Next I'm going to try a quick brake boost to see if it helps.

You should be used to it by now.
It became second nature to me eventually.

it does seem solid and I was surprised to snap my driveshaft in half at the track.

I used race start on PSS tires and hit consistent 1.7x 60' bone stock. I'll stick with that...

I don’t know if it’s 3k exactly but it’s definitely more than 1500. Maybe 2500? You can’t do it for more than 2sec or so or else it will go into some sort of failsafe mode and bog flat on its face. So whatever it gets to when I floor the gas and count to one Mississippi is what I launch at. Sorry if it’s not more scientific.

So last night I tried this again and would you believe it...with my foot a little harder on the pedal, it actually does go up past 2500 to around 3000rpm or so. I can't believe it took over 2.5 years of ownership to figure this out

I thought 17's were the smallest rims you could fit at the back.

Nope, 20mm spacers and they fit w/o any issue.
