C63 camshaft adjusters
I own a C63 2013 p31. I went for Major service to an independent MB service provider in Dubai. I was told after a few hours that the camshaft adjusters need to be replaced as they were worn-out and the car makes noise during the cold start (which i never noticed - may be foolish of me). From the description on the quotation, it seems that they can only confirm if these need replacement when they remove cylinder head covers.
I went through one of the threads on this forum regarding the CA making noise and it being sort of normal (some people mentioning it coming back shortly after getting adjusters replaced/fixed).
ii) I want to take another view on the whole CA issue in m156 engine from you guys.
I have been quoted around USD5.2k (AED19k - excluding other regular repair/maintenance of AED11k) for the labour and parts. I have been looking around on websites and found CA on VRPSpeed (Victory speed), each is quoted for $823 (total 3300).
iii) How much do the camshaft adjusters normally costs?
iv) How reliable are the parts from VRSpeed website?
Thank you
https://www.oemercedesbenzparts.com/ is a good supplier.
If just startup the main problem is the potential for add'l wear on lifters and cams.
Doubt you'll find a mechanic willing to do this(although head guy is located in UAE) but a CA pin flip might correct the issue. Thread here...

It seems like OEmercedesbenzparts.com do not deliver to UAE.
I have the same noise on cold start but it only appears for a couple of seconds and then it's gone. Once the engine is warmed up, upon starting the engine there is no noise.
Can you please tell me where you had it fixed and how much it cost you?
I also ready many people complaining that the noise came back upon doing this service and after some time did this also happen to you?

actually the sound went away after the oil change and it hasnt come back for a while. Even the garage did not highlight the issue after that.
Are you based in Dubai?
Cheers

Yes I am in Dubai, i recently had a 60K major service and as read on this website, changed the type of engine oil from 0W40 to 5W40 (both 229.5 approved for gasoline engines).
The noise became less, the cold start became slightly better, but sometimes it just doesn't feel right with the noise that comes during engine start until it becomes warm.
This usually lasts for seconds and then disappears.
I have driven my car 1000 km after my recent 60K major service and looking forward to see the result of changing the oil type.
Cheers
