Front end clunk over bumps
2012 c63
feeling of slight movement of steering and light clunk when going over small sharp bumps front front suspension only. In previous BMW’s i have owned this has always been the meaty lower control arms or ‘thrust arms’.
Im assuming its the same in this? Unless anybody has any different thoughts.
Although I see from searching the item is c63 specific with no afternarket or OE manufacturer options and costs $460 or so from ECStuning.
Any cheaper places? My usual parts places dont even stock them. Need to ship internationally.

Yeah thrust arms. Mine made the clunk but when I tested them they had minimal play eventually it got bad enough to notice my passenger side had worn out. I went with the upgraded fcpeuro parts with the upgraded bushings

Seconded. Front lower control arms. Just changed mine out too about 3 months ago. Surprisingly I only have about 36k on my car when it happened.

Any feedback? Is it DIY-able? I haven't found a guide for our car but for others it looks like the strut has to be disconnected from the hub to get it in and out? FCPEuro, care to chime in?

feedback. They have a video showing how much play the factory parts have under cornernering compared to these, pretty impressive difference although I’m sure you’ll pick up a bit of more road feel and perhaps noise with these installed

yes haven’t installed yet but purchased those. Yes the strut has to be removed to install. I think blkrkt has them installed already so maybe he could give some

Winter here and I try to not drive it so haven’t been in a rush to install plus I have a buddies c55 ripped apart doing some repairs and an e55 waiting so need to get some of that done first

AMG must have a good reason to have designed elliptical mounting holes vs spherical like the ones one the fcpeuro part. I think it's what causes the mysterious clunk in slow stop and go driving on my c63 lol
Anyone know for sure?

Are you talking about the inner bearings having a larger hole for the bolt on the oem vs the fcp upgraded parts? If so then yes it’s there so there is some adjustability. You’ll lose that by going with the fcp part and if you want to get it back you will need an adjustable strut mount
