Power steering moan

I recently purchased a 2014 c63 amg. The car has been awesome minus the power steering noise which has a deep moaning noise that eventually stops. The noise does not influence steering feel whatsoever. The noise starts about 1 minute after a cold start with no steering input, just sitting stationary. I have changed the power steering fluid twice and it has not helped. I have been reading about the problem and I may swap out the reservoir next, any help is appreciated!

Power steering pump? I remember having a leak and it was audiable when cold. As soon as the car warmed up the noise was gone, but the leak was still there.

My fluid level remains the same so I pray there isn't a leak. I think I fixed it! The first two times I changed the fluid I just extracted and filled. But last night I lifted the front wheels off the ground after I changed the fluid and turned it lock to lock about 15 times. No more noise!

The noise was back this morning! I'm going to replace the reservoir next and if that doesn't help I'll bite the bullet and replace the pump.

Did you recheck the fluid level after the lock to lock motion?

Yes I checked multiple times during the process. To be honest the noise is hit or miss and i'm sure the pump is damaged to some degree. The steering feel is great though so i'm going to do the reservoir first to see if it changes anything. This seems like a common problem with this platform, it's a shame considering I bought the car in the middle of December. I guess nothing is perfect though!

So it's been a few weeks since I battled the power steering noise. My steering feel is great, but the noise is still there when cold. I would say after changing the fluid with redline the noise has been reduced about 50%. My next step is to replace the reservoir since I have read the screen can become clogged. Honestly the noise isn't a huge deal for me since it operates fine. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem!

Try replacing the power steering resovoir as it comes with a built in filter. The part is $50 bucks. I just did this one my 2010 two weeks ago and so far so good.

If you haven't already, change the fluid once more so all the old fluid is entirely gone. You may have a mixture of old and new fluid at this point and another flush may fix your problem, before you go out and replace your reservoir.

So I finally fixed this issue and thought I'd revive a dinosaur. Like everyone has said before, replacing the reservoir did the trick for me. Pulling from the reservoir with a turkey baster of the sorts will only remove like 250ml. I followed the steps outlined in the video and filled with Liqui Moly power steering fluid #20038.

Works like a charm and flushes the entire rack and system. Happy Friday

So wait
You changed the reservoir.
And used a turkey baster to drain it before.... Or after replacement to get all of the extra old fluid out?

You remove the old fluid from the existing old reservoir before removing it.

Turkey baster or syringe to remove the majority of fluid from old reservoir first to avoid spilling any fluid when removing everything. Then install new reservoir and follow steps in video, super simple! You will need a small hose clamp for the return line if you do not want to reuse the stock clamp. I used a little under 1.5 liters to do the flush.
