I'm assuming this is for storage so you're looking for a 4pt, no? My dad is adding a 4th garage and putting one in to store toys, but not sure what brand.
But for maintenance/tinkering purposes, you're better off w/ a 2pt. I've got one at home and love it.
Then 4 post is your Huckleberry. Good for storage and oil/fluid changes, but if you want to change wheels and/or do any kind of brake work, gotta get a 2 post.

You will want a 4 post for storage, 2 post is in the way for the lower car and pain to put the car on constantly (but great for maintenance) and you need a minimum thickness of concrete to bolt them to, 4 post is not required to be bolted.
I have one of the ones that is sold as 100 different names, was about 2500 for an 8000 lbs (the one I have is from greg smith equipment) if you want to tire swaps and stuff, nice to get a jack that runs down the center and lifts on the 2 jack points (front or rear) at the same time to raise an axle. If I was to do it again, I would get a bendpak for 1000 more, they are a bit more but have some nicer features and are generally considered the one to get.
The MJ is limited to a 48" lift height since most home garages have ceiling heights limited to 7.5-8ft and that's about as high as you can go before the car hits the ceiling... But I got an extra 4-5" in clearance height with the above unit, plus an extra 1,000lb in capacity for the same price. I sacrificed portability, but that wasn't a major criterion IMO and I don't think anybody really does that anyway. You're sitting in a roller chair either way when working from below, but if I ever move to a house w/ a bigger (read: taller) garage, I'll be able to walk under it w/ this unit.
OP, check your ceiling height if you plan to get a 4-post and want to put another car under it...
4 post:
can park another vehicle under
easier and faster to use for simple tasks like oil changes
ease of doing home 4 corner alignments granted you have the required additions
2 post:
easier for anything suspension or 4 corner related
easier for full scale front end work like motor swaps
if it were up to me i'd have a 2 post on one side and a 4 post on the other side. but money doesn't grow on tree's in my household.

Agreed on most, except the bold/underlined... Unless you have an unsually tall ceiling in your garage, you ain't fitting fit much under there other than a Radical or a 4-wheeler. IDK, maybe that Lotus will fit, but better double/triple check just to be sure

you can do all that stuff on a 4 post too. Is it easier on a 2 post yes but engine swaps ect ect can be done as well on a 4 post and suspension work can easily be done as well with a rolling jack. A 12 foot ceiling will allow for essentially any combination of cars for the most part.
