Anyone hear of Jone’s Cam’s
Apparently these guys made the cams for weistec and mhp...
they can grind to any specification and increase duration (which stock cams lack) and lift...

I spent all day yesterday talking to a german tuner. I learned alot about our cars and depending on factory ECU firmware makes a difference on tuning.
My firmware didnt have the option enabled to change in vidiamo and the us vs euro firmware is different. That's why our fuel trims are wack with row boxes etc.
Same tune on eurospec black series firmware will make more power.

Jesus for 5k plus install might as well supercharge it.

Really that’s interesting. I had the same fuel trim hunting. I fixed it all with HPTuners.

Did you contact them about possibly making a batch if you could get a group of people together ? I spoke to Anthony at RaceIQ a few months back about possibly getting some made for the M156 since he has the baddest E55 cams in my opinion and he did not really have any interest at the time and said that there was currently a set on the market that were billet but over 4k (probably referring to the kleemann's) I plan on staying N/A with this car and would love to put a set in.

I’ll have to find out more information on Monday...

They offer a set at 3k but haven't posted a single result or said they were testing etc so me and most in the FB groups were pretty skeptical.
Awesome keep us posted and depending on the specs of the cams they could likely benefit the supercharged guys as well.

Keep in mind that there is no positive experiences with changing cams on our motors that I've heard of.
Amg has bigger cams on the sls black series but they upped compression ratio and changed the final drive and the car LOST power under the curve,it has lower torque and a way higher redline .I think its 7900 and can rev to over 8500.
They also have velocity stacks inside the intake manifold to speed up velocity to help part throttle and mid range torque.
I'm afraid you will end up spending alot of money and not be happy with the results.
You are a perfect candidate for the sls intake with the regular sls cams. It will lose a little down low but make 577 crank hp
Again the cams are out there and amg already made them for you.but I honestly would not do it on a street car.

the loss in power is on the spec of the cam. While the m156 and m159 share similarities deep down there are different.

Got a response and have some specs of cam grinds and price.
A set of our Billet Steel cams for the M-156, is $4,400.00 + Shipping
Here's the 2 options I would look at.
H68475-67440: Intake 228@.050" with .475" Lobe Lift. Exhaust 224@.050" with .440" lobe Lift.
H69475-68475: Intake 232@.050" with .475" Lobe Lift. Exhaust 229@.050" with .475" lobe Lift.
We have gone as big as 255@.050" with .500" lift, but I think that required a lot of other changes to the engine.

From what I'm told, they're drop-in, but I would check to make sure the springs can handle the .475" lift. I don't really trust the guys that I was working with. They never gave me any power numbers, but they seem to like the second option better for the Normally Aspirated engines.
We are slammed right now, so I really don't want to get into dealing with a group buy, at this time.

Thats all the info I got. I’m not sure on the stock specs and not sure the valve buckets can handle that lift... may need to upgrade to sls black series buckets... maybe someone who knows more will chime in?

the problem with camshafts is...they're pricey to get produced and our engines require 4 of them. with all of that in mind as much as i'd love a set, but they're much to rich for my blood.
if anybody has a spare head, any head porting specialist could measure out the entire head for clearances, spring pressures, spring heights, bucket pad diameter, etc. that is what we'll need before we could even think of what camshafts could fit. along with this, we may need to permanently lock out the cam adjusters if the cams are too big.

You are right. At the cost to do all that crap you can throw a weistec stage 2 and be done with it.

Cam change should only run around 10hrs of labor, another $200 in gaskets and hardware, So you're really looking at only around 5500-6k$, may want to do black series lifters at that point as well which are another $1500.
