Makes sense, thank you. Where did the external canister bolt on for you? (Hoping there's a factory spot for it on newer M156s.)
I have it sitting right on top where the original one would sit. Its an eye sore but I don't mind it. I never really got around to looking if it will bolt onto the side like the older m156s but don't see why it cant.
Costs be damned, the RT intake is indeed the optimal solution and I'd be lying if I said I'm not still considering it.
Realistically though, ROW air box lids, Weistec filters and a larger OE Y-Pipe (which is where the RT intake actually changes things) will yield 80+% of the result at < 20% of the cost.
Thank you for the advice on the E63 y intake pipe and vacuum accumulator. I just installed it today. I don’t think I can feel the difference, but just by the look, it does seem that there will be more air flow into the intake.

Its probably less than 3whp and no body can feel that. But its a cheap way to get almost the gains of the renntech box.

Any pics of your install?
Where did you locate your vacuum accumulator?
Thinking of doing same can pick up parts for AU$150.
I got pretty lucky. My buddy has an E63. He broke the clips on his intake pipe a while back. He went to a pick and pull and bought an extra intake pipe and vacuum accumulator. He just gave them to me for free. I zip tied the accumulator onto a metal bar in the back.
