Wheel Fitment W204 507 vs. Standard (Winter Setup)

Hi All!,

Did a bunch of searching on this topic but found some misinformation here and there and was hoping someone could confirm an understanding for me.

I recently picked up a W204 507 Sedan, and living in the northeast will be using it for light winter duty as needed. In researching a winter wheel and tire setup, it appears as if the 507 editions came with different rotors and painted calipers, but that the sizing is the same vs. a non-507 (stock) car. Therefore, in theory, an 18" setup that fits a standard c63 should clear and work for my stock 507 edition, right? Tire rack is giving me a bit of a runaround saying the 507 package has 'bigger brakes' but it doesn't seem like that's true. I presume the same question/answer applies to P30/P31 vs standard as well.

Pics for clicks, thank you in advance for any assistance!

You are correct 507 is same sized brakes and calipers as standard model I have a 507 and run n 18’s from tire rack on it that I bought for my 2013 base model with Michelin x-ice 225/40-18’s I think they are. Only the black series had larger brakes.

Sweet, I was hoping that someone who had tried both could chime in, thanks for confirming!

Thanks!, Yes this is the fitment I was considering as well 18X8 with a 225/40/18 tire. Not looking forward to running an even narrower setup than what I consider to be an already 'under tire-d' stock setup, but just looking to get through the winter season in one piece so won't be hooning too much.

If you're gonna be in snow, narrower is better. If you are only going to drive on cold, but otherwise clear days, a wider tire would be best. I got 235 Blizzaks all around on OEM 18s, but now that I have my Jeep to drive in real snow, I'll probably shift to a staggered 235/265 winter performance tires in the future. The lack of width in the rear means you can never really put power down out back, even if it's bone dry out.

Hmmm wonder if I should run a 235/40 on an 18X8 square setup, the owner's manual seems to suggest I could. I'd like to be able to handle some of the white stuff but honestly if it's a relatively bad storm (in my area relatively bad is 6"+) the plan is to commute with my wife who's car is better equipped for such situations.

You can run 18x8 square, and that will let you rotate tires too. I just kept mine the way it was because I didn't want to buy another set of wheels. You can fit 235s on the stock 18s front and back, but the rears will look a tad stretched compared to the front

congrats on the new car - best color of course and it looks super clean...

being from Maine originally I'd want something like Nokia's or Hakka's on this to drive it in the winter if there's a remote chance of snow or ice.... for rims - 18's will clear fine and you might be able to do a "square" set with a rear spacer/ longer lugs to allow for full rotation...

why not snag a 4runner or used A3 as a winter rat and keep the 507 pristine ?

True, definitely have considered just going the route of a winter beater. But I'm in love with the idea of truly making it a daily (we'll see if the upcoming winter changes that), and the wife's ride is my prior car (Golf R) which is great in the snow so I'll just carpool on the days it gets bad.

The motivating factor for me switching to a winter vehicle wasn't really the capability of the C63. It actually drives quite good in both snow and ice with the WS80 Blizzaks. My biggest fear is the other morons on the road driving their AWD cars with summer tires and having zero turning or stopping ability. My Jeep on the other hand is protected by steel bumpers and rails all around, so they will lose big time in the low speed impact department.

Exactly my thought...... My old RS6 did fine in snow with studded tires but got taken out by a Blazer with bald tires on black ice....

I'd get something like my 80 for the winter.... or the 4runner equivalent...

Nice 80. I'd kill for a 105.
