Injectors

I have a quick question for the masses. My car has 90k miles and I will be doing some maintenance. Since I have never had injectors cleaned I do not know the benefits over buying new?

Are there any cons to cleaning?
What is standard turn times to get them back?
How do you verify they have been properly cleaned?

It's fine to clean them just have them flow tested.

If they have gone through one of these, they have been properly cleaned. https://www.asnu.com/machines/gdi

I think most people are just buying new as cleaning in the US was $20-$25 per injector and you could buy new ones for $30-$35 each so why bother cleaning and have no downtime. Otherwise generally cleaning is good idea especially if a lot cheaper than new, they replace the filter o-rings etc and should give you a flow diagram and spray diagram for each and will recommend if any don't meet the criteria.

I appreciate the feedback. I did find a local shop that can clean them, just haven't had the chance to give them a call. If they are around the price you mentioned above I will just buy new ones and keep these as backups if I ever need them.

buy new...they're cheap and these injectors are pretty fragile and generally become brittle over time and fail.

Do you have anything to back this up?

when i removed mine to replace with 596cc's, one of mine cracked at the connector junction upon removal. for the price of new replacements...if you're removing your factory ones, might as well replace with new ones.

if you've never removed...they'll probably be ok as they wouldn't be disturbed or yanked on to remove them.
